In summary

Reston National Golf Course is appreciated for its convenient location and some nicely laid out holes, with a few visitors noting improvements and a pleasant atmosphere. However, many golfers express concerns about the course's maintenance, citing issues with tee boxes, greens, and bunkers, as well as a slow pace of play and high prices. Additionally, interruptions from nearby residents and poor cart conditions are frequently mentioned as detracting from the overall experience.

If I could give this golf course a ZERO I would. Played there 2 weeks ago on a Saturday and let me just say this...."DON'T PAY TO PLAY HERE!!!" The tee boxes were garbage, never played a course that actually had fairway rough (as we called it), and the pace of play was the worst I've ever seen in the Northern VA area. The course ranger was actually part of the maintenance crew. And the golf carts are 1 break away of a lawsuit. Breaks didn't work and trying to cross the road was playing with your life. If they are going to sell this place, then sell it, but don't charge almost $70 for this pl…

Convenient location but it’s not where you want to golf. There’s too much good golf in NOVA to want to spend your money here. Save this golf course and get someone that cares in here instead of developers that will turn this in to townhomes and condos!

Course is horribly maintained. Terrible water management (huge puddles on the greens and on cart paths). Tee boxes and greens were mud with a bit of grass (see pics). Horrible.

I haven’t played this course in over two years. I remember it as always being in good shape, well maintained and fun to play. Today I played it for $65 which included range balls and I was both dismayed and disappointed by the condition of the course. Not worth playing for half the price, maybe not even for free. The following were a disgrace, the tee boxes, the bunkers, the rough. Tee boxes were over grown, some covering the tee box markers , others bare or with patches of grass. Bunkers hard as a rock and it looked like they had never bent raked, Greens needed to be cut; forget about trying…

One of the Worst Courses in Northern Virginia Reston National is by far one of the most poorly maintained golf courses I’ve played — especially given the high price point. The bunkers are a joke, with grass growing out of them like they haven’t been touched in weeks. The course overall feels neglected, with constant gnats swarming you the entire round. Bring bug spray — and expect to reapply it four or five times just to stay sane. What really sets this place apart (in a bad way) is the constant interruption from kids running across the greens and fairways due to the nearby housing. It compl…

Go here if you like: -no foods but snacks in the afternoon -don’t care about stocked pro shops -don’t need gps or easily spotted yardage -like 4+ hour rounds -people walking their dogs on the green -ok with overpaying ($90) for a round that should be $45. As of July 2021, the course itself is in good shape though. Kudos to them for that one item.

Overpriced and inconsistent. Pros - Close to DC - Some nicely laid out holes - Greens are slow but in nice shape Cons - Woeful condition fairways, rough and tee boxes - Slow 5hr rounds with zero policing by marshals - The 6th is an absolute abortion of a hole; 200 yards carry with a pot bunker guarding the front with woods behind it at 230? That ain’t fun. There’s far better value for your ~$80 out there.

I was a bit skeptical after reading some of the reviews but did not find most of them to be true. The course was in good condition and could tell they were making rapid upgrades to other areas. Quite a chill vibe, will definitely return.

Full price and the single worst condition course I’ve played in years. No effort to mow, most tee box’s are inoperable, cart paths are not drivable, carts are in terrible condition. No reason this couldn’t be a great course except for sheer incompetence at the helm.

The neighbors are EVERYWHERE! I am not exaggerating. There were 3 people that crossed the fairways with dogs, one of which was pooping on the course. There was a man who stood in the bushes 20yards forward of the tee box on 15; we didn't see him until our second tee'd off. Even after we asked if he was trying to cross he said no and just lurked in the bushes. He then followed us up the hole. There was a man with his toddler biking. They were on the cart path pin high on a 200yd par3 WELL within the path of a stray. Don't believe me? I got a picture after they biked past us on our approach t…

This place was terrible, it had been a few days since it rained, but after playing 4 holes my feet were soaked! Everything was wet, almost all 18 holes, towards the end I had to play barefoot. The price for the experience was not worth it whatsoever. The layout of the holes were decent but the only memorable thing was the service, easy to check in and get what I needed.

If you find yourself in the Reston, VA area - or are looking around for golf courses in the NoVA region - look no further. Get a tee time at Reston National. The management, staff, amenities, bar, clubhouse, practice range - are all top notch. I would comment that others are saying the greens are not ideal - Look at my photo from the 12th. It's literally butter. Love this place and would recommend to anyone who is deciding between places to go in NoVA - choose Reston National.
