In summary

Red Tail Golf Club is highly praised for its well-maintained course, beautiful layout, and friendly, accommodating staff. Many visitors appreciate the challenging design and scenic setting, along with amenities such as the GPS-equipped carts and quality food options. However, some guests have noted issues with the condition of certain tee boxes and a slow pace of play during peak times, suggesting room for improvement in these areas.

First time visitor and had a great round. Staff is fantastic, Holes were in good shape, Driving range was as nice as the greens, love the putting greens at hole #1 while you wait to tee off. Tee box views were incredible, Cart GPS was accurate, tasty food at the turn too. Fun round and will visit again

Played in 96 degree heat. Course was is great shape. Dylan and his crew are doing an awesome job on the course. Greens were pure and ran great, people fix their divots there. Fairways were beautiful, had some tee boxes that were kind of funky, but with all the traffic that course gets, I understand. They are fixing up some of the tee boxes. This hands down wins the best shape in New England for a public course this year, hands down. Range was mats, but no big deal Lunch on the porch overlooking the 18th, great post round beers and sandwiches. Props to the kitchen staff there. I’ll be back for…

"$160 for a round of golf!!" Well worth it. Great course. Friendly staff. The carts are second to none. If you have the money, play this course !!

I’m grateful to the staff at Red Tail, particularly Alex in the pro shop and Bob on the grounds crew, for their kindness and support for a special request today. My 82-year-old dad, who lives in Shirley, has not been able to get out on the course in several years, and really wanted the chance to hit some chips and putts on a real green. When I explained this to Alex, he encouraged us to come over and park right near the practice green by #1 tee. When we got there, we found that there’s a steep bank which would’ve been challenging with a wheelchair or walker. Bob came right over offering to hel…

So sad. The layout of Red Tail is probably the best in Central MA. But they just cannot (or won't) take care of this course. They charge a premium and it's barely kept in the condition of a municipal course. And this spring, the greens are completely destroyed. 15 out of 18 have snow damage and three of them are simply unplayable. Just destroyed front to back. No break on price, even on unplayable greens. Just sad. :-(

Teed off at 2:20 on a saturday, did not get to 10th tee until 5:15. We asked to loop the front 9 again to avoid another 3 hour 9 holes which they allowed. We were able to get 9 more holes in about 1 hr 30 beating the dark. The course was in great shape with typical wear. Pace of play was the only issue, will come again on a weekday to avoid the crowds I guess. Range included and quite nice carts were also a plus

Fun course, great layout, decent greens. With that said for this price a bunch of the tee boxes were very beat up and not at all what I expect to see when I play a course that costs over $100. Most of the other tee boxes were totally fine. Greens were rolling nice but looked like no one fixed divot marks but not the courses fault. Would love to play the course again.

We had a wonderful experience golfing at Red Tail on Saturday. Dave and the rest of the staff we had good banter and were kind and professional. We mid / late 20 some year-olds really appreciated spring rate discount via the dynamic pricing that’s available. My favorite part about this golf course was how secluded it felt and how well-maintained it was. Rarely in Massachusetts can you find a golf course where you don’t see other homes, and you have room between holes. This #1 and #2 Butter Brook are my favorite courses in MA..

This course is well maintained, beautiful scenery. The greens and ter boxes are in excellent condition. Being our 1st time here we had questions, Staff was superfriendly and knowledgeable of the course. Negative side the golf carts need some TLC. We are lunch in the club house after playing 18 holes. Lunch was spot on, tasted amazing.

The club house is warm and inviting with some cool swag. Carts are prepped ahead of time for guests and there are practice range balls waiting for you before you tee off. The course is well maintained with lush fairways and challenging greens. GPS in carts which also displays the green's topography...10/10 course. Fun par 3s and some scorable par 5s. Highly recommended for the more serious golfer :)

Dont bother going here and use your money elsewhere. $145 is a crazy price to charge based on the very poor conditions. tee boxes are in very poor condition (see photo) and fairways not great with lots of unfilled divots. Greens were decent. This is an awesome course but in really bad shape, and way overpriced at the moment. At a minimum, let people know when they are booking or drop the price until you improve the conditions. Put something on your website to explain what is going on. This is a gem of a course and management is ruining it. This is my second review in 2 years here and it hasn’t…

I played here with the Veteran Golfers Association. I was stationed at Fort Devens from 91-94 and loved playing the original Post Golf course, I now live over an hour away. I was looking forward to playing Red Tail. The layout was incredible to where the architect challenged you to make precision shots. I hit far too many shot Into trouble. This course is chellingjng and the staff were phenomenal. The greens were in excellent shape. The crew were driving around to water the greens in between groups during the very hot day we played. The tee boxes were a little torn up and I only saw bare spots…
