This is my first and maybe only google review ever, so Shaker Hills deserves everyone’s attention. I’ve been to shaker hills for the better half of 5-6 years now, and it’s incredibly challenging to find a well manicured public course with fantastic staff that have always been consistent. Though the course is pricey for a MA public during peak season, but they do a great job and discounting different tee times throughout the day. They also have been very reasonable with “curfew” policies for cart return late in the day. One last thing that should feel welcoming for any golfer is going above…

Really disappointing experience at Shaker Hills today. We’ve been looking forward to playing here as it’s marketed as #1 public course in Mass. and this is absolutely not the case. The course layout is enjoyable, but you’re paying for rooftop shots off a mat, and a drive through snack bar. This is all a distraction from the extremely poor condition of most fairways and all greens. Pace of play was good, but when you book the course sends you a list of rules which includes them stating you will be paired up to keep pace of play. This includes them moving your tee time up more than two slots. Th…

Shaker Hills was well worth the 2-1/2 hour drive. It’s a fun course with a variety of holes. The fairways and greens were in good condition. The entire staff was warm and inviting. I loved the drive through refreshment hut, and the rooftop tee box is a fun and original twist. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 star review is that the pace of play was a bit slow (4:45) without a ranger in sight. The edges of the rough are often hard packed rock and dirt. The carts could also use an upgrade. Overall, a nice experience that was worth the higher price.

Terrible experience here! Coming from Ireland to play no.1 course in MA. It’s a OK course, with the rooftop tee and drive through snack bar which are interesting. However, the course management and cart GPS doesn’t allow anytime to players to really enjoy these!!! We are about 10 mins behind the course standard on the 9th tee. While no one behind us that we been asked to pick up the pace and pass the 10th tee and come back afterwards. We respect the management and come back at 10th, got told than the tee time is full and we cannot play 10th anymore. And the group behind us got told to skip 2 h…

1st time playing today at Shaker. Course was in great shape. A lot of great views, and fun challenges. We were pleasantly approached by Fred (the owner) who stopped to talk to us about the course and our experience. He was giving a tour to a set of golfers who were visiting the course today. I watched him drive them to different holes and discuss the different layouts. The drive thru snack shack will NOT disappoint. There was something there for everyone. And it was strategically placed so you can hit it on the front and back 9 (Well Done). The carts were comfortable and quiet. And once again…

Neat course, challenging layout. Greens have a lot of undulation in them. They rolled pretty true and were in good condition. I did notice a lot of spike marks on them though. Definitely a course you want to play to landing spots instead of bashing driver every time. Taking one star off because they wanted to charge my wife a full green and cart fee just to ride along with me. Staff wasn’t the friendliest, took my card and wished me on my way. All in all though I would absolutely come back to play here. Good course available to the public

Excellent Condition, beautifully crafted course, lots of elevation changes, some of the nicest par 3s I've seen. Difficult walking course but if you are a walker I would say go for it. It's a little on the expensive side, also they will let you walk but make you pay for a cart anyway, not a fan of that policy.

Best public course I’ve played. Very well-maintained, and you can tell it’s expertly managed. More than just a round of golf—it’s an experience. Worth every penny, I’ll be back again.

Lots of gimmick shots. No breakfast food inside and no beverage carts or drive thru until 10AM. Sprinklers came on on 2 holes while in the fairway. We waited on the tee for the group in front to wait for the group in front of them, and they were both in the fairway. Grounds were in great condition, and that's the only thing that was good.

Not at all worth the hype. I will say the greens are phenomenal. Super fast but receptive. This place is nice from far, but truthfully it’s in kinda rough shape. Really disappointed in the tee boxes. They aren’t level, or anywhere close to it. Fairways were pretty thin, looks like they’ve struggled to grow and are in danger of losing some. Rough also very thin. Divots appear to never be fixed, anywhere. Layout is quite challenging. Not many remotely flat lies to be found. Lot of quirky holes. Also not a fan of the gimmicky tee shots on the par 3s. No reason to showcase that length of a par thr…

Great looking course with the “shed” they’re really proud of, but pace of play is atrocious. Charge $2 more per person and hire a ranger or two! Friday morning round took us 5 1/2 hours. Also, there is no cart service, nor any water to drink on the course. You only pass the shed twice in your round, so if it’s your first time there like it was mine, you’ll be parched till you reach the shed. Loved the course but not going back till they address pace, ranger, and lack of cart service. You can’t charge $130 and deliver this type of experience. Unacceptable. UPDATE BASED ON SHAKER'S RESPONSE: Yo…
