In summary

River Plantation Country Club receives mixed reviews, with many visitors appreciating the course layout and improvements in the greens and fairways following past flooding. The staff and clubhouse amenities are generally well-regarded, but some guests express concerns about course management, particularly regarding tee time organization and slow pace of play. Additionally, there are frequent mentions of inconsistent greens and maintenance issues, suggesting room for further improvement.

Course is fun and decently priced the issue is they’re not very good at managing tee times there’s two nines and instead of splitting people up they have everyone tee off 1 and it causes a traffic jam. Our tee time was at 1:45 and it’s 3:00pm and we’re through 3 holes. It would be more efficient to have people tee off on 10 as well as 1 so there’s not 8 carts waiting on each hole. And then on top of that a random twosome jumped out in front of us absolutely insane. Took 2hours and 47min to play 9.

I really enjoyed the course layout. The holes were not bunched up together, going head to toe. However, it does appear that they are letting the quality slide. Greens had significant rot problems that reasonable solutions could be made. Price was good. Plenty of parking. Electric carts. Driving range not included in green fee. Challenging for me. Some houses had some serious damage from misadventure balls.

Layout was a lot of fun but seem to be struggling with greens. Fairway conditions were acceptable but not great. Heavily sanded greens and some sandy tee boxes. Definitely has potential if they can reign the conditions back in. I would play here again but it’s not currently a place I would bring a group of buddies to unless we just wanted to have a relaxing round without worrying about scoring. I wouldn’t sleep on this course as it has tons of potential.

6/19/25 8am tee time, started on hole 10 bc they were grinding trees down. Didn’t expect them to follow up half our holes so the loud noise was much appreciated. Then on 2 we were playing our approach shots and the guy just comes and cuts a new hole mid swing like what?! Overall 1-3/9-11 holes look great but rest of the course the fairways need cut and greens look better then the past no sand. Bunkers aren’t playable and tee boxes decent. If the price was $30-40 I would come back but $50-60 bucks I’ll go elsewhere. It’s getting better but still needs work. Maybe next time I’ll ask if they woul…

Greens are not well maintained but the course could be enjoyable if it wasn't terribly managed. They evidently allow 5-somes as we had 2 separate groups of 5 in front of us and ended up playing almost 3 hours on the front 9. 2:20 tee time and we only got 11 holes in before their 5:40 cart return time. A twilight rate for $10 off doesn't constitute allowing slow play. On top of that, we started 10 minutes late because the first tee was so backed up. A typical round of golf should take no more than 4-4.5 hours(at worst!) and allowing large groups and having no accountability means than $42 twil…

Played today....greens are terrible. Putting through sand and bumps is not ideal. Staff was great, pro shop was great, restaurant was great, clubhouse was great, the Marshal was great, carts were great...but the greens are terrible. You can add 5-7 strokes to your round just because of the terrible greens. Unless you are desperate for a round of golf, I'd play somewhere else until they figure out the greens.

The only good thing about this course is the clubhouse. And that’s still nothing special. Was forewarned about the green conditions, but still was not expecting them to be as bad as they were. Fairways were OK and tee boxes weren’t anything special either. Playing as a foursome we were approached early in the round by the Marshall to allow another foursome of members to jump ahead of us. Later in the round we were approached again by the Marshall telling us to pick up the pace of play. We played a four hour round of golf and that’s with letting one foursome group and a twosome group jump ahead…

I paid $74 for a round of golf and a small bucket of balls, but unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing golf course experiences I’ve had. The greens were covered in weeds, and it was difficult to predict where the ball would end up. Many of the putting surfaces were either full of weeds or just bare dirt/mud. The bunkers looked neglected, as if they hadn’t been maintained in weeks. Additionally, the fairways had visible ruts and signs of hog damage. I had high hopes, but sadly, the course didn’t meet expectations.

We used the clubhouse rooms for a special ladies event. We enjoyed the nice scenery and really enjoyed the breakfast and lunch for our event. The service was excellent and staff went above and beyond to support our event! Thank you for making the event so memorable!

Sine the flood a while back they’ve been trying there hardest to bring the course back alive. With complete honesty I can say the are doing a great job. Fairways are green with a couple patchy spots and GRENS have taken a mighty leap. Not perfect but from what the flood did to what they look like now is a MAJOR improvement. Pace of play in the morning time was way better than expected with only one true hold up going from front to back 9. Gave it a 4 bc I don’t think 62$ isn't an accurate price for current conditions, but was very pleased with how the conditions are turning in the right direct…

I knew this course was always in bad shape... but it was soo bad today I felt compelled to give this terrible review. Fairways are awful. Crabgrass and weeds growing all over the place. Every green has weeds, sandy patches, or just plan dirt patches. Take a look at the photo of this bunker. I saw the previous bad reviews, and the responses by the course, but it's obvious they put absolutely no effort to even keep the course at a bare minimum level of acceptance. Not playing here anymore. I wouldn't play here for free.

I have been coming to RP to use their DR, putting green, and pitching range since Feb 2024. I am also a beginner, high handicapper and have enjoyed my instances at RP. My review on RP and my take on the negative/whining reviews: 1) this is a budget-friendly course. Budget-friendly locations come with their own issues, so adjust or go play in a higher-end course. Better yet, join a country club. 2) Learn to work with different personalities. Not everybody that works in service customer-related jobs have a bubbly personality. Be respectful, follow the rules, and enjoy the game. If not, we are bl…
