What People Say

In summary

Sapelo Hammock Golf Club is frequently praised for its beautiful course layout, well-maintained greens, and welcoming staff, with many visitors enjoying the charming southern atmosphere and amenities like the Eagle's Nest. However, some guests have noted issues with tee box conditions and customer service experiences, as well as concerns about pricing relative to the course's condition. Despite these criticisms, many find the course to be a worthwhile and enjoyable destination.

Improvements on the tee boxes look great! Noticed a lot of landscaping upgrades since the last time I visited. Will definitely be back.

I live in Charleston SC and visit my brother in Richmond Hill every few months. We played 9 holes 3 times. Always in the morning. I made a tee time for 9 holes for 10 am. The last time we played the young man charged us for 18 holes by mistake. His boss told him to give us a rain check for 9 holes. This morning when we went in to pay, the short blond woman said they don’t allow a player to play 9 holes until 1 pm unless they are a member. That we could only play 18 holes. Then she said we could pay for 18 holes and she would take off the rain check . Then we played 9 holes that should have bee…

I drove 5 hours overnight to play with my dad and his weekly group of Seniors for mid 60s to mid 80s years old and to hear about the customer service was very disappointing. And from what I was told it's everytime they come up in rotation and it's sad! Some people like it that way I guess but the course is in great shape! To bad i won't be back and I'm sure they like it that way.

Passed through on my way to Savannah. Had no real kit but got sorted by the young lady in the shop and had a great 9 holes. People really great and as a English man enjoyed the discussion on how different my club is! Recommended.

We were in from out of town and had never played at this course before. Everything was perfect. The staff was super courteous and helpful. One of the owners even welcomed us, introduced himself and gave us some helpful tips about the course. The course was challenging but fun. We enjoyed the driving range afterward as well.

Not worth the money or the drive anymore…I’ve given the course multiple tries, at some points, steady business and I just hate to say I’ll never be going back… I used to play this course weekly but over the last 2 years (2023-present) it has just steadily been in decline and in some form of disrepair but a friend recently recommended the course so I figured I’d give it one last shot…so here’s the honest review… Initially, about 2 yrs ago (early to mid ‘23), the greens all started to die and become infested with this black algae looking crust. The management and groundskeeping team never could…

Loved this course! Southern charm at its best. The owners and staff were wonderful. The course was beautiful and the greens were in great shape. Our stay in the Eagles Nest above the club really completed our experience. Awesome sunsets and happy hour after golf on the patio. Cheers to S.H.G.C.!

Went to the TACP reunion here and had a wonderful time. The staff is so friendly it feels like staying with family. The Eagle's nest is beautiful and spacious. It's definitely worth the trip, and I can't wait to come back.

Course was in good condition and the greens were in fantastic shape. Challenging course. Late lunch at the clubhouse hit the spot as well. Hour drive from Savannah but well worth it. I'm coming back.

Played here July 2025. Great spot to play, relaxed pace of play. The course conditions from tee to green are good, not amazing but we found the greens to be in amazing shape. Had a lot of fun playing this course, a few blind tee shots out there but other then that good course layout. Jackson in the pro shop was great to us

As challenging as it’s beauty. Slow and steady is the way to handle this stunning course. Stone’s throw off I95 N in quaint Shellman Bluff Ga Sapelo Hammock is a hidden gem you want to show off but keep it hidden as not to ruin its spender!

Played this course for the second time. Last time was 10 years ago and finished in a downpour then. Today was a beautiful day. Love the layout of this course. I read a previous bad review and was skeptical of playing but thoroughly enjoying the experience. The blue tee boxes need some work but the greens and the fairways were excellent. I am sure this course gets plenty of public play but it was a great time.
