Scotch Hall Preserve, also known as Occano, is highly praised for its immaculate course conditions, stunning views, and challenging yet fair layout. Visitors frequently commend the friendly and welcoming staff, as well as the excellent practice facilities. While the course's remote location and lack of a conveniently placed clubhouse can pose minor inconveniences, the overall experience is considered well worth the trip, with many golfers eager to return.

Amazing day. Friendly staff. Hardly anyone on the course on a Wednesday afternoon. The course was in great shape. The track is not too difficult but there are some challenging holes especially on the back 9. Some really beautiful water views and some wide open spaces so you almost feel that you are in the middle of nowhere which was refreshing to me. They provide bottled water in various coolers throughout the course and ball washers which was nice because the course was a little wet in spots but not terribly bad. Great practice areas and reasonable prices for both the greens fee and practice…

Paid $55 as a single on golfnow bc it appeared you can't book as a single through their website. Showed up and they let me go out early on my own. Course was in tremendous shape. Greens are fast! Views of the sound were nice. Definitely worth playing!

We had an amazing time at Occano. It was our first time playing this course after playing Southern Pines on our golf trip. We were stunned by the beauty and design of the course. We would prefer to play Occano over some of the more well known popular courses any day. The staff were super friendly and considerate. Chad and Ron at the pro shop were informative about course conditions and let us know about cottages offered on the property for groups at extremely great rates. The driving range was well designed and hitting off the grass felt amazing. The conditions were great as well. I can see us…

What a treat! Fantastic course layout and the views are some of the best in NC! Course was fair but certainly challenging. Greens were immaculate, fairways very well groomed and the service at the pro shop and restaurant were excellent! @occanogolf

Our group played this course today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Weather conditions were not ideal but the course was in very good condition. Greens were rolling smooth and true, fairways were well kept. Overnight accommodations are very nice and clean. We look forward to a second round tomorrow and likely a return in the spring. Highly recommend Occano.

Very nice course. Its 2yo so in great shape Came in with our cart on a Sunday at 7pm and everyone was gone. That was odd Clubhouse is hard to find if you miss the immediate sign. No clubhouse at hole 9 either. Seems like maybe it moved locations since being built but no signs are updated. Water bottles are random holes was super nice!

Stunning golf course that is in great shape as of writing. Playing from the tips it feels like you're the first person to ever play the course since the tee box is so clean. Great views, great course, weird layout (pro shop is no where near the 1st/18th or practice areas) though I won't take any stars off for that. Definitely worth the drive inland from the beach.

Really an amazing course, by far the nicest in this part of the State. Make sure to bring your sand wedge as Palmer made sure to place traps in every location you'd want to land. Greens were in superb condition! Don't come expecting to shoot low, come for the great course and friendly staff.

Occano Golf Club – A Hidden Gem in NC What an incredible experience at Occano! The course was in fantastic shape—from tee to green, everything was meticulously maintained. The greens were absolutely excellent, rolling true and fast, making for a really enjoyable (and fair) test of golf. Beyond the course itself, what really stood out was the hospitality. The staff were genuinely warm and welcoming, which made the entire visit feel relaxed and enjoyable. You can tell there's real pride taken in both the course and the service. This place is truly a hidden gem—peaceful, scenic, and profession…

Love the Palmer design and layout! The course was in great condition with plush fairways and receptive greens. We drove from Raleigh and definitely worth the 2 hour ride. Very friendly staff! Loved it!
