In summary

Shadow Creek Golf Club is appreciated for its unique and challenging layout, with recent improvements in amenities like golf carts and the pro shop receiving positive feedback. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's maintenance, particularly the condition of the greens and fairways, and some have encountered issues with staff interactions and course management. While the club shows potential under new ownership, there is a consensus that further improvements are needed for it to reach its full potential.

I’ve been coming to old English for the last three years. This was my first time in 2026 playing. Wow, the improvements are so noticeable the golf carts and the GPS tracking is amazing. The holes are looking so much better. I really do see big things coming for this golf course

Layout of the front 9 is incredible. Front 9 has potential to be one of the most unique 9’s in SC. Very unique playing around a cornfield, a swamp area, the deep woods, and tall prairie-like grasses, and being far away from the city (it feels) with no road noise. If you’re course layout/architect nut such as myself — you’ll love seeing some of the most unique holes in SC. Noticeable front other reviews, the condition, leaves much to be desired. The first green has about 5 square feet of grass unfortunately, BUT it improves drastically after the first two holes. It’s still rough, but prepare f…

Booked a tee time for me and my 2 kids and my husband. We had 2 carts, 1 kid with 1 adult each. Waited 45 minutes on the first tee for the “members” in a group of 8 to tee off. When they finally got done teeing off, we pulled up to the tee box. Staff tried to kick us out cause the “starter” didn’t tell us to go. There was no starter. And the tee box was open. Pretty sure they just wanted to kick us off cause we had kids. Which they made us pay for by the way. After talking with the staff I convinced them to let us play. They also said they were worried we weren’t responsible parents to keep ou…

The lady upfront is rude and uptight. Fuses about us pulling over in tall grass in a cart but there's people driving all over the greens. When you set a tee time be prepared to have someone on your ass. They do not give a group enough time to get past the first hole before sending another group. Love the course but there running the irrigation to much needs to be cut back on cooler days so its not as muddy. Cart paths are ruff. Last thing is they need to cut grass on fairways and clean up the ditches and around ponds so you can see past and around them. Weedeater but that might be to much work…

The course is designed well and was a good challenge. They have much potential, but unfortunately the lack of course maintenance leaves much to be desired. The greens have some bare spots and are dry. The fairways need to be cut. The ruff is rough. From what I understand, they are operating the course on a limited ground crew and it does show. The bunkers need to be cleaned up with a weedeater, and some round up.

New owners are doing a great job! Pro shop and snack bar are great. Cannot wait to see what they do with this really interesting laid out course. 18 is wild!

If I could put zero stars I would, Absolutely awful experience. The course is awful and yes I know they’re working on it. But the guy, I assume was the owner, outside today was extremely horrible. Due to the weather yesterday the course is wet so everyone is on the chart path and my bf and I are here and while hitting balls on the range 3 young boys (appear to be in high school) they were confused and trying to find the correct course to play on. And when they did they noticed the path leading to the first hole was flooded completely out and had deep mud. These guys tried to discuss the best w…

I am from Florida just passing through and had a few hours to kill. Didn't want to spend a lot of money but wanted to get a few swings in. This course is what I would call a working man's course. It's not in perfect shape but is worth the $30. There is plenty of character and challenging. The clubhouse has huge potential just needs to be set up a little different. The drive in is awesome as the houses are really cool. For golfers looking for above average or even average conditions this is not the course for you priced at $30 you should know that. For golfers looking to get in a few swings and…

Great course with a ton of character. New ownership is really doing an amazing job at building this course towards true hidden gem status for the Florence, SC area. I recommend this course to everyone looking to have a fun round while challenging yourself throughout the winding layout. Pro shop staff are always friendly, helpful & making great recommendations. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Pros: great course layout, driving range, and pro shop/snack bar. The course honestly has potential. Cons: Charging $30 to play on dirt greens is insane when CCSC and Traces are just a few miles away. It’s been 3 years and I believe the greens get worse every year. There’s more green grass off the course than there is on the course.

The course is in good shape for this time of year. There were a few greens that could use some work but overall very impressed with the course. Very friendly staff and a pretty challenging layout on a few holes. Will definitely be back!

Don't waste your money. Little to no grass around the course. The greens hop, they do not roll. From the appearances, the new owners are trying to rehab this course, but it's going to take significantly more time. Good layout and challenging holes, just not in good enough shape to justify $36. I'd try it again in a couple years.
