Sharp Park Golf Course

Probably the WORST golf value in the entire Bay Area and one of the worst condition courses overall. It’d be ok if they were charging less than $50 but it’s $86 to play without a cart and $111 with a cart. 1. The course is an absolute mud pit. There is 1 drain on the entire course on the 13th (I think) hole and, ironically, that is the only dry hole on the course. Funny how that works….. 2. The “clubhouse” is a moldy mildewy disaster. I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt the need to share this experience at Sharp Park Golf Course. The golf course itself is perfectly fine and I’ve enjoyed playing here many times over the years. Unfortunately, my experience with the starter this time left a lot to be desired. When I walked up to ask about getting out as a single, I was told the next available time was 9:40. I mentioned that I didn’t have my resident card with me but that I am a resident. People say it’s not well-maintained. They say the clubhouse is old or the greens too bumpy or there’s three inches of standing water in the cup on 14, yet for some reason the sprinklers are still cranking. Listen: I live in the mission and it’s 20 minutes away and at twilight it’s $47 to play a Mackenzie. I think it’s true that Sharp is a make over and some regular maintenance away from being world class. But then it wouldn’t be a $47 round, would it?

Solid local golf course. Offering some amazing views, wildlife, and solid bar. Not the fanciest nor is it the nicest course you will ever play but that’s not the point. The fairways and greens can be a bit rough during certain times of the year but it can also be a gem when you know when to play.

This course delivers a traditional and enjoyable golfing experience. It features scenic views, wide-open fairways, and a layout that is both challenging and accessible. The fairways and greens are well-kept, though some areas show a bit of wear. We were unable to rent a golf cart and had to walk with a push cart instead. Despite this, it remains a great value with a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

Fun historic layout, can't beat the location. Little bit "pasture golf" in upkeep - grass is pretty much single cut. I was okay with it, keeps it simple, just not something you see very often. A bigger budget would go a long way for this course. SF parks should put some renovation funds into Sharp, a McKenzie muni. Not many carts available, but I believe that actually helps keep the course in much better shape overall, less wear and tear. Easy walk, get the full experience. Would be cool if they figured out a way to restore one of the original holes instead of hole 8, a short pitch shot par 3…

A very cool track that was sneaky hard. The routing, trees, green complexes, and views were all outstanding and will make me want to come back. But man this course needs some TLC. It's been about 10 days since the last rain here and the course is still soaking with overgrown fairways which is a tough scene. No blame to the greenskeepers as they are just being dealt a tough hand with a course that doesn't drain but it was tough losing 3 balls in the fairway. Rushed through tee time as course was completely overloaded with only 5 mins between groups. 4 hours and only got thru 14 holes because every tee box has a wait. Shame as it's a beautiful setting for a golf day. Maybe I'll go back on a week day when the weather improves. Oh well. Not bad for $50 I suppose.

Very interesting Alister Mackenzie track with a lovely flow to the course. I walked the 18 holes carrying my bag, and the course is flat enough to carry. Greens are furry, and slow, and there were mounds of dirt everywhere. However, that did not distract from the natural beauty and native flora and fauna found on the course. No views of the ocean, but you will hear the sound of crashing waves. Really enjoyed the last stretch 14-18 with the short 130 yard par 3 over the tall reeds, to the 319 yard #17 which is driveable with a breeze behind. Enjoyed and will be back.

It is classic decent golf course with nice view and air. Sea is close by. Some of the holes were flood and needed to play alternative. Green was messy unfortunately. Overall enjoyed.

Always a fun round here. Always so beautiful. The course could use a little upkeep with the cart pathways, busy aside from that, a cool old school vibe. Beware of the Bloody Mary’s. Although a generous shot of vodka, very much lacking in flavor! Still did the job though!

A lovely layout, seaside Links course designed by architect of Augusta national in one of his only municipal links courses. Steeped in history, with sea breezes, solid greens and a strong lay out. The fairways are in so so shape in the sea wall blocks the original epic views... But I'm still giving it five stars because for its price has to be one of the best courses available.
