In summary

Stow Acres Country Club is praised for its friendly and helpful staff, as well as its well-stocked pro shop and bar cart. However, many visitors express dissatisfaction with the current condition of the courses, citing issues with greens, fairways, and overall maintenance, which they feel do not justify the high pricing. While some appreciate the plans for a new driving range, others are disappointed with the impact of ongoing changes on the course quality.

I’m not usually one to rant online, but this course deserves it. Charging $90 to play here is borderline robbery. If it were a $50 course, fine — but $90? That’s laughable. Back in 2020/2021, this place was a gem. Now? It’s a train wreck. Tee boxes are chewed up, crabgrass has taken over, and the greens look diseased. Fairways? Don’t even bother asking — you’d get a smoother lie in a cow pasture. The only bright spot was the friendly guy at check-in, but one good attitude doesn’t make up for a course that’s completely fallen apart. And fallen apart is a complete understatement. Bottom line:…

Always a great experience at this golf course. The staff are consistently friendly and eager to assist, making every visit enjoyable. Their pro shop offers quality merchandise—I've picked up both shoes and shirts that I still use regularly. The food is solid, and the bar cart is well-stocked with refreshing options to keep you going during your round. The course itself offers a well-balanced mix of medium to challenging holes, ensuring that no two games feel the same. Each round presents a new test of skill, which keeps things exciting for repeat players. A top-tier driving range is currentl…

Unfortunately terrible conditions in 2025. For the same price, play Butternut Farm in Stow which is literally two minutes away, has better holes, and is in genuinely good condition. If you don’t care if the greens look like this, go to Leo J Martin Golf Course where the greens are just as bad but at least they don’t charge $50+ to play it; I’ve walked 18 there for $27.

What a fall from grace as this used to be a premier course in New England. They can’t even keep their practice green in OK shape. They are building a 2 decker driving range which is cutting off 250+ yds on par 5 10th hole on South course. North course is a 17-hole course. Course is terrible all around. I’d give fairways and tee boxes a 6/10 as the best parts. Greens I’ll give a 3/10 with several getting 0/10 (see pics of 2), bunkers are about - 4/10 and rough on average a 4/10 as well. Best hole was 18 for sure and I’d give the hole a 8+/10. Most muni courses are maintained better and certainl…

Avoid this place until further notice. I booked a tee time here last week, was charged full price, given zero notice that the course was in attrocious shape. Purchased a bucket of range balls that were mostly cut covers and found balls from the 1970's. Was given zero advanced notice and had no idea until we reached the first green awhen we found out that the greens are diseased and essentially spray painted to resemble greens. Some simple honestly and contrition would have gone a long way. Clubhouse attendents were arrogant and dismissive. Flat out rude. It will be a very long time, if ever, b…

Very beautiful place. Shadow Run has a great staff and provides an excellent environment for weddings. The nice outdoor golfing area didn't really interfere with the wedding. Everybody was very cordial and nice. It was a great place to have a wedding. The people who had their wedding there were very happy and satisfied.

Full review: Stow is not the Stow of yesteryear and the description and pictures online are no longer true. Played the back 9 of the South and glad that’s all we did. Conditions get a 2 out of 10. Layout also a 2 out of 10. There are just no signs of love at this facility other than the employees attitudes. They were great. Tee boxes are what you’d expect at your local muni. Beat up and rundown. Some tees not cut, some with not enough grass to cut. No real fairways, brown patches everywhere, we ended up playing the ball up after seeing 2 holes. The greens are hairy and slow, the bunkers look…

I believe they've sold off large portions of the North Course so they've understandable let the condition of that course slide. And they get points for sharing that it's no longer a full course. However, it should be deeply discounted to play it as it's 16.5 holes and in very poor condition. More disappointing to me, is the fact that the changing of the North course (and resulting building of a new driving range), seem to have impacted the quality of the South Course as well. The greens have significant dead or fungal patches that seem be preventing them from mowing and tending to greens in a…

This course needs some serious help. The layout and design is very good, and when it’s maintained well it’s a beautiful place to play. However the conditions seem to be going more and more downhill. The greens are awfully maintained, the fairways and rough are very dry and patchy. It seems like they haven’t watered or seeded some parts at all. The #11 fairway has had puddles of water and mud for months now. These conditions do not justify the green fees, especially with other great courses in the area. The people here have been fantastic though. The head pro Jeff helped me get a bag replaced…

Don’t bother playing this course. So not worth wasting your day off or the money. North course was deplorable 2 entire holes missing. Not USGA playable as it stands. Check out the photos. What a shame we did not play another course.

I had not played at this course in several years, but it has really taken a turn for the worse. All of the greens on the south course had disease, bald spots, etc. The carts didn't work well, and we realized after the fact that our foursome had two different scorecards for the same course with different yardages and pars. No food/beverage cart or water on the course, no way to get to the clubhouse at the turn, and not even any water in the ball cleaners. There was also no food ready (e.g., hot dog) before we teed off. They are putting in a massive 2 story driving range, and it seems like all o…

They really let this place go. Greens have dirt patches and disease. Fairways are even worse. Found out when I got there the North course only has 17 holes this year??? And 1 of them is a 200 yard par 4 hitting from a dirt patch in the middle of the fairway, over a mound of dirt from construction. Pretty insane they think they can charge $79 for this place. Even more insane the money they are putting into their new driving range while the course looks like this.
