Sunset Golf Course

Sunset was a wonderful experience for our four groups of ladies playing today. Ed in the Pro Shop is always pleasant and congenial. How nice to have a starter today! The gals especially appreciated the relatively new placement of the red tees which are definitely lady-friendly. Part way through the round, an employee came to check on us to see how we were doing. Furthermore, the course was in excellent condition top to bottom! We will be scheduling additional rounds at Sunset this golf season. Thank you for giving us the royal treatment.

A Day at Sunset Golf Course: More Like a Washout in Customer Service My recent experience at Sunset Golf Course was, to put it mildly, deeply disappointing. We had booked an 18-hole tee time over a week in advance, eager for a pleasant round. However, the weather forecast shifted, predicting rain to start an hour after our scheduled tee time. Attempting to be proactive, we called the course the morning of our tee time to see if we could move it up. It's a fun course that has some incredible views. The layout isn't too overly challenging, but fairways are on the tighter side. Also, the rough can be thick in spots. Played here in July, and the course was in very good shape. Hole 10 is really fun, with the fairway being significantly below the tee box! The course looks down on Harrisburg Airport and it's pretty cool with the planes coming in low and right above you on a lot of the holes. The pro shop and bar are small, though.

The highlight of this course is that it sits on top this large hill that overlooks the fields and river. The first nine holes are on top and the second nine are below. The holes vary in hills, but not too extreme. Very little hazard areas. Price for me was $45 with cart all 18 holes. They have a driving range. The course was way too crowded when I went, so keep that in mind. Had no issues with staff.

I really enjoyed this round of golf with the views and the course layout. Staff was good, but the confusion at my arrival cost me any practice green time. If anyone at the course reads this, please cut down the young trees blocking the entire view of no. 10.

Good public course. They've removed a bunch of trees to make it more of a links style course. Just played at the end of March and the course was in solid shape for the season. Some holes continue to have drainage issues with poor growth.

If you like golf and airplanes, this is the place for ya. You’re right in line with Harrisburg International Airport, which is less than 2 miles away. The course is a great track. 6400 from tips. Countless elevation changes, very firm & fast greens, several blind tee shots. A handful of tight fairways.

Cold and windy today, and the VP’s plane buzzed us about 20 times as it practiced landings at Harrisburg’s airport! Can’t wait for warm weather!

We were disappointed. Granted 2022 has been pretty dry in PA so we figured the course would be too. It was, but the surprising part was the lack of course maintenance in several area. Bunkers (pictured) consist mainly of a hard dirt/sand crust that's impenetrable by golf clubs. Tee boxes were often 50% dirt and 50% weeds that have been cut short. Getting a tee in the ground was typically a struggle. Still has lots of sights to see like planes flying in and out of the Harrisburg Airport, several picturesque holes and wildlife.

Nice challenging golf course. They take care of it well. There are some bunkers that are under construction but to be expected in a public course. Some very nice views as well. Only downfall is that it is right over the landing path of planes for the Harrisburg airport.

Worst experience I've ever had in my 16 years of playing golf. Our tee time was 10:56am for my group of 2. We decided to leave at 2:52pm because we were sat on the tee box of hole 14 for 15 minutes waiting to tee off. 4 hours to play 13 holes. Ridiculous! In the 15 minutes we were sat there, we decided to call the pro shop and ask for a coupon to come back and give us a free 9 holes to make up for waisting our time.
