In summary

The Barracks Golf Course is frequently praised for its well-maintained greens and fairways, challenging layout, and accommodating staff. The course offers a scenic and quiet setting with amenities like a well-stocked clubhouse and a restaurant with a beautiful patio view. While many find the course enjoyable and reasonably priced, some visitors have noted issues with signage and the condition of certain greens, as well as occasional service hiccups.

I was in town for a tournament, and the course was great!! Fun layout, which offers some challenges. The rough is thick, and the fairways vary in width, some wide and some not so wide. There are plenty of water hazards to get around. The greens were in good condition and played well. The golf carts are newer and in excellent condition. The staff was extremely nice and the price was right. If you're in town, give it a try....

Had my first 18 here last week, the coarse is obviously in need of a little bit of brick work & such, BUT the coarse was way better than I anticipated! I had an awesome day and the feeling here is so quiet and secluded compared to other coarses. Yet the coarse is actually very big! I would rather play at the Barracks than go to Bluff point, this coarse is way better & the staff are very much more accommodating! Not only that but the restaurant itself, mixed with the beautiful top view of the coarse from the patio is BEAUTIFUL! Many beautiful little ponds all around & a Plaque at each tee of th…

Nice public course. Usually, it is fairly well maintained and a little bit more affordable than some of the other local choices.

I went here with a party of 4, ended up costing about 100 for everyone. I’m sure it would have been more had we bought drinks. Service was nice behind the counter, but the person who was behind it almost charged all of us for 18 instead of 9, which would have made our fare 140. Tee boxes were pretty good, fairways and greens were absolutely gorgeous. Only complaint is the amount of people here but I guess that’s expected. Would golf here again!

Nice course that is enjoyable for beginners and challenging for the more experienced golfers. The greens are well kept and it's reasonably priced.

Classic golf experience, played a golf tournament not too long ago and had a great time. The greens are well taken care of and the fairways are pretty forgiving. The club house provides beer, snacks, supplies, etc and is well stocked. Would go again.

Some of the greens are spotty with two types of grass on them, making it a little difficult to get a good line. Other than that the course was in good condition. I would play here again without a doubt.

On October 1st PHS celebrated their 50th reunion at the Barracks Golf Course and I and others were extremely impressed by the atmosphere, the cordial host Delores Vivian, the professional wait staff and chef. The food was outrageously delicious prepared on site and would highly recommend to anyone to take advantage of this uncommon venue to celebrate any event. I have not played golf there this year but plan on playing Wednesday since the course looked in beautiful condition. Thanks to all at the Barracks for making our reunion a memorable event and providing this community with the hospitalit…

THE course was in excellent condition. Greens and fairways reminded me of some of the high end courses I have played out west. The greens fees were low enough for an entire family to enjoy a day at the Barracks.

Course was challenging and in good condition. Fairways were tight and firm. Greens were in good conditions. Helpful staff. Prices were very good. Worth a round if you are in the north county.

Played here for the first time, I have played a few other courses around the area and this course is absolutely the worst of all of them. The first problem I had was finding the tee box for hole #1! Couldn't find it! Then after driving for a little I found the tee box for 10, so we played the back nine, after hole 10, none of the holes are marked! couple that with weird patched up greens, that are fast in some spots and not in others, along with having to play in a bayou pretty much (think hundreds of yards of water hazards along the sides of the course, just filled with plant life and swamp),…
