In summary

The Founders Club at Pawleys Island is praised for its unique course design, friendly staff, and well-maintained facilities, with many golfers enjoying the layout and the use of sand waste areas instead of traditional rough. The course is considered a good value and offers a fun experience, especially during quieter times. However, some visitors have pointed out issues with signage, cart path conditions, and the reception of non-members, suggesting room for improvement in these areas.

I'll start with the good: The pace of play was a perfect 4 hours and breakfast was also very good. And all of the personnel were very friendly. The bad: They started us on the 10th hole at nearly the same time as people were finishing the front 9 which made for an uncomfortable round because the people were always right on top of us ready to hit. There was at least 1 empty hole in front of us so I'm not sure why they didn't start us at least 10 min sooner. Signage for the next hour was lacking in a few spots leading to some confusion. The ugly: The cart path was in the worst shape I've ever se…

The last time I played this course was about 20 years ago. I was absolutely blown away at how much this course was enjoyable to play. It is an exceptionally good design and possibly one of the best designed golf courses in Myrtle Beach. That is my opinion. Very very smartly, designed and very fair. The greens do need a little bit of work unfortunately, but the fairways and the bunkers and the waste bunkers were all in excellent shape. Shape this is truly the best bargain in all of Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island without a doubt. So much so that you will always put it on our list of courses to…

I must say out of all the courses I've played in Myrtle this was the most fun course I played so far. Great layout and during the new years slower week it's the perfect time to have the course to yourself. Loved the waste bunker cart paths definitely helped add to the fun. My kid side came out a little when I had to do a couple of doughnuts in the big sand areas but hey all in good safe fun :)

Best deal in the area. Great course, great staff. By the way, I just saw this, we let you through. We always let singles through. Groups of three or four can’t keep up.

Beautiful course with changing elevations in very nice shape. The pro shop staff and starter were friendly and helpful. A little better signage as to the location of the next tee would be helpful. In all, and course I will put on my "must play" list.

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. I brought my son and nephew who are newer to golf and they loved it! They have a great junior program at Founders Club! Course was in great shape. We got lunch after the round and again the staff was amazing, food was great and we couldn’t have asked for a better day of golf with the boys! We will certainly be back! Thanks again! Dan

Amazing Staff, course is a quirky layout cross 14 roads throughout the 18 holes, no parallel holes. Great shape sand cart paths which I kind of liked smooth ride. All elevated greens beautiful holes. We had a couple cart troubles and they were on it right away. Again thank you for the great service!!!

Good course and pace. Very reasonably priced. Only weird thing was I saw 3 dogs on the course all on different holes, I'm assuming from the locals who live in the houses near the golf course. Not sure if this is the usual here or if it were just coincidence, weird either way. I would play here again.

The Founders Club at Pawleys Island, about 20 minutes south of Myrtle Beach on Highway 17, opened for play in 2008 and attracts golfers because of its unique appeal: sand instead of long, unforgiving rough. The course was designed by Thomas Walker, former lead designer for Gary Player Design, on what used to be the Sea Gull Golf Club, a Gene Hamm design that dates back to 1966. Like much of the surrounding area, the original course was relatively flat. Walker changed the look and feel of the course by moving around over a quarter million cubic yards of dirt. The $7 million renovation project i…

Course conditions were fine, had high hopes for the layout. The people at the course (members and staff, aside from the bag drop guys) very clearly don't want you there if you're not a member, yet they offer tons of tee times to the public mixed in with members. Just don't sell tee times to the public when members play if you don't want others there. I've played a lot of places around Myrtle Beach and this was by far the worst experience. Tough scene when you get hit into on the first hole by a group of members, and there's a starter at the tee box, no fore call. We played the front half in 1:…

Course was in fantastic shape. Rate was very reasonable for the area, and wasn't over booked. Played 18 holes in under 4 hours. Service was great, everyone was accommodating and pleasant. That course itself is a cool design in that you snake through the community never really getting your bearing. Has some well designed holes with split fairways, elevated greens and menacing bunkers. Saw a bunch of wildlife from gators to lizards and turtles.
