The Mackinaw Club is praised for its well-maintained course, featuring lush fairways, smooth greens, and a scenic layout that offers a peaceful and isolated golfing experience. The staff is frequently highlighted for their friendliness and accommodating service, enhancing the overall experience. While the course is considered a great value and fun to play, some visitors have noted issues with pace of play and occasional staff interactions, as well as the presence of mosquitoes, suggesting that bug spray is advisable.

Played on a Tuesday morning as a single. Course was outstanding and fun to play. This was my first time visiting Michigan. If the courses are like this, I'm looking forward come back to play other courses. The bar has been set very after playing here

Play this course and BYOB! We thought, for the price, and the fact that we had never heard of this course, that it might earn 3 stars. But what a pleasant surprise. The course is a classic ‘Michigan Up North course with tight, tree-lined fairways, a little water, natural landscaping, and interesting greens. You can’t see one hole from the next. The course is in great shape, having mostly recovered from a lightening-caused irrigation problem. The tee boxes and fairways are green, the rough is fair. The putting greens are pristine. We saw no signs of summer burnout in mid September. New hole mar…

We came here for the first time and had a great time. Starting from the moment we walked into the pro shop, Carter was great! He helped us get everything we needed and was so nice and professional! We will definitely visit here again when we are back in the area!

Great course. Great staff. Played here yesterday, the course looks easy but it sure fooled me. Best of all was the staff. I wanted a logo ball for my collection but they were out. The young man behind counter went to his car and got me one he found and gave it to me. That's above and beyond.

Course is in great shape even in late September. You can hear I 75 but it’s not so loud that it drowns out the sound of pileated woodpeckers near by. Very inexpensive, what a great value.

Fantastic course in Northern Michigan with lush fairways and smooth greens. Small clubhouse but the staff were friendly and accommodating and the hot dogs are huge and come on a steamed pretzel bun. The layout is a little flat and repetitive, especially considering how hilly the area is, but it was a fun and quick round! The cool and unique part is that you really don’t see or are aware of anything around you except the hole you’re on as the trees create separate you from any other holes. There are a few holes that it’s a distance to get from one to the next so I wouldn’t recommend walking the…

The Mackinaw Club is a beautiful and well-kept course that’s fun for all skill levels. The layout is scenic and peaceful, with a nice mix of open holes and tighter challenges. Greens and fairways were in great shape. Best of all, the staff was awesome—especially Carter, who went above and beyond to make our visit smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommend stopping here if you’re in the area!

Course was nice, tee boxes were pretty decent and the greens were open and great. We did experience a bit of an upset when our group of 5 was playing best ball to keep a decent pace. A worker came out and told us we were holding people up when in fact he was playing through other people already on greens not concerned about them at all. We had talked with the group before us and they stated that they were never asked or questioned before that said person who played through them. He also played through us and was very rude about doing so almost confrontational. Great course but someone needs to…

Correction, Golf club is NOT closed for the season. Was looking to playing and brought my clubs only to be seriously disappointed. There is a rope tied across their driveway. They need to update their Google listing and signs at the course!!! Update: owner updated Google listing and explained why phone calls are not being answered. I have not played this course but I updated my review to reflect their responsiveness. I hope to try the course next year.

Nice fun golf course. The greens have some slopes to them, making things interesting. Only complaint is the excessive amount of mosquitos. Do not forget your bug spray!! Also, it’s a BYOB situation. We were not aware ahead of time.

Beautiful course. Great price. Many of the holes you feel so isolated in a good way, so many trees you surround them it feels like it’s the only hole for miles. So peaceful and well kept. This is an amazing golf course.
