In summary

TimberStone Golf Course is frequently praised for its beautiful setting, challenging layout, and well-maintained conditions, offering a rewarding experience for golfers of all skill levels. The staff is noted for their friendliness and accommodating service, enhancing the overall visit. However, some visitors mention minor drawbacks such as limited practice facilities, occasional slow pace of play, and the need for better course navigation aids.

Friendly staff and amazing fall golf. This is a challenging course with all of the top tier characteristics. Needs a greens book or GPS driven assesment of the course as the changing pin locations will make this incredibly difficult to score well. Plenty of options to choose the right tees for your level of play and incredible scenery make this worth every penny.

This was the last course on our UP tour and didn’t disappoint. Good practice facility, not great, short game area with a few bunkers. Decent range. No drinking water on the course. The course is tough but fair. Immaculately maintained. Greens run true. Friendly staff. Don’t miss this gem.

Course is beautiful. Very fun to play and pretty playable if you can control the slice. I only give it 4 stars for a few reasons: - putting green is tiny and not one flat spot on it. No more than 3 people could use it at once comfortably and it was in rough shape. - driving range was short and mats only. - clubhouse didn't have much for logo'd merchandise and was very slim pickings. -5.5 hour round on a Monday early afternoon! - traps needed a lot of attention and lots of rocks. Overall it was a fantastic course and a great value with the casino. I would come back despite the gripes as they d…

Very difficult, but beautiful golf course. It was pouring rain during our round, but that didn't stop our group from having fun. Hit them straight off the tee and you can score.

A Group of eight Marines came to golf on the longest day of the year at Timberstone. We wanted to play three rounds in one day. The personnel at this course had it all set up and the bar staff as absolutely amazing, specifically Riley, who took care of us at the bar. The golf course was in immaculate shape, even after two prior days of rain. This golf course should be a bucket list destination , especially considering the personnel that run in my opinion. It is the best golf course in upper Michigan and it’s not even close.

5 stars. 18 holes here was a relaxing time. Mostly surrounded by forest we saw a ton of wild life. The pro shop also had a nice bar with hamburgers and brats. Hole 17 has an amazing view.

Played it in mid September 2021 after a night of heavy. Course held up well, but a few bunkers had standing water...but little any where else. (Smartly, that day, no carts were allowed on the fairways to keep it from being beat up after the rain.) Course is cut out the woods but holes are close enough that you see other holes through the trees at most times. Water was worked in well on a few holes as was the elevation changes. Gentle turns and straight holes were the norm. Five sets of tees for players of all skill level, though the 20+ handicapper should be prepared to pick up and drop on gre…

Timberstone Golf Course is an insanely tight course that just 5 to 10 yards off target will result in a guaranteed lost ball from the tee and approach greens. Greens and fairways are tiny, for it is almost unfair. The course still offers great conditions and good design. Favorite holes were 5, 6, 9, 16, 17, and 18. Hole 16 is ridiculously difficult and requires two precise shots to have a chance at birdie. Overall, it is definitely worth playing

Lovely, lovely, lovely--and totally playable. There was nothing about the course this high-handicapper and wife didn't enjoy. It's classic north-wood's golf with its tree-lined fairways (that mostly had generous landing areas) plus rocky outcroppings. Suggest spending time on the putting green before you play as the greens are quick, and somewhat hard to read as I had several "anti-gravity" putts that wondered far beyond the hole. And for you long hitting, good golfers--this course will test your skills. I would compare it (experience wise) to Big Fish in Hayward, Dismal River in Nebraska (es…

Gorgeous golf experience inside a smart design plan. The back nine gradually ascends providing a surprising finish. Kudos to the superintendent and grounds crew for providing outstanding turf conditions.

If you want to play the best golf in the state of Michigan, head north, past Gaylord and Traverse City. Go over the Mackinac Bridge, and then take Route 2 West to Iron Mountain where you will find TimberStone. It’s even easier to get to if you live in Wisconsin; most of the license plates we saw in the parking lot were from the Badger State. TimberStone is the golf part of the Pine Mountain Ski & Golf Resort. Pine Mountain offers the best of both worlds to sports enthusiasts in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula; it’s a ski resort in the winter and a golf resort in the summer. The golf course is loca…

Beautiful and very fun course. I'm not a great golfer and I was nervous from other reviews, but it's very playable, just play smart and safe and you'll have a great time. Excellent food and bar service as well.
