Toiyabe Golf Club

So this is definitely on the late side of things, however, my husband and I got married here at Toiyabe Golf Club last year in September. The wedding coordinator we spoke with first was nice, easy going, and very informative. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, halfway through they left and was no longer with the company. Fair course in good condition and true rolling greens. Pretty wide fairways and windy in the afternoon. Play it smart and you will do good here. The back 9 is a little more challenging and softer (mud) fairways.

The chef and staff were great. I met friends here for lunch. Due to celiac, I asked about gluten-free options, and the chef was delightful. He came and personally spoke with me and assured me he was certified in food allergies and made me a special meal. No reaction to gluten and great people!

Had a chance to play a practice round here before the actual tournament. The place is clean and well run. Course is in great shape with interesting holes, some forced carrys, and holes that require you to shape shots off the tee to get in the right position for the best approach angle. You will want to play a practice round first if not familiar with the routing as there are small creeks and hazzard areas cutting across a few fairways and in front of a couple of greens. Beautiful course in a gated community, 20 minutes south of Reno. Excellent conditions, from tee to green. Some fairways had a links type feel. Greens were in awesome shape and rolling fast...also challenging, as there seemed to be slope and break in play on any putt farther than a tap-in. Sure there are some houses around, but not a lot and they fit in well with the views...its not like the fairways were lined with houses by any means. Absolutely stunning golf course. Friendly staff. Starter was a great guy, friendly and helpful. Course was in great condition. Great pace. Felt we were all alone on the course. The carts had ice chests full of ice and nice snack cart girl. The views on this course are hard to beat anywhere. Homes on course are well protected so as not having to worry about doing any damage. I recently played at Toyabe Golf Course and had a very disappointing experience. When we checked in for our 10:21 tee time, the starter told us they didn’t have the tee times for a tournament that was going off in front of us. Because of that, the course was extremely backed up. Every tee box we came to had two or three groups waiting. By the time we got to hole 9, there were four groups stacked up on the tee. I had planned carefully because I work at 4:00 and figured a morning round would give me plenty of time. Instead, I had to leave at 3:30 after only completing 14 holes. That’s nearly 5…

We had a dinner with a group. The staff here is great. Everyone was so attentive and helpful. Beautiful setting. Food was ok but nothing great.

Great company, nice course, terrible course management!!!! It took almost 3hrs to finish the front 9 and I could not finish an entire round of golf. The high schoolers that played in front of us kept apologizing to us for the slow pace play. One even mentioned how Toiyabe is notorious for its slow rounds! Can I get a marshal?!?! I’m from out of town and was hoping to play a fun round of golf, but unfortunately it was stopped by slow play.
