In summary

Valley Brook Golf Club is appreciated for its beautiful layout, challenging design, and welcoming staff, with amenities like a natural grass driving range and a well-regarded restaurant. However, some visitors express concerns about course maintenance, particularly on the back nine, citing issues with waterlogged areas, geese, and damaged greens. Despite these challenges, many find the course enjoyable and a good value, especially for Bergen County residents.

I played this course for the first time recently and I left with mixed feelings. Check in was smooth and easy in the clubhouse, where I decided to buy a bucket of balls to warm up on the range. That’s where things got weird. I was told that I had to leave my county card as collateral and it would be returned to me only after I returned the bucket. (Never had that happen but whatever) I was pleasantly surprised to find that I would get to hit off of natural grass instead of a matt on the range. (Awesome) After warming up, returning the bucket to get my card back, I proceeded to play the front 9…

Beautiful and well maintained public course. It should have been a prive course some time a go.

This is my go-to County course! Really fun to play, relatively flat, but still challenging with water hazards and some narrow spots. Some fairways and greens are not in the greatest shape, but nothing major. The clubhouse with the restaurant is a nice change compared to other courses. Great place to grab a bite and a beer after the round.

The course is in really nice shape. As long as you hit straight your fine as its narrow on some holes. The greens are nice overall nice day of golf.

Staff is friendly, natural grass driving range, but the course conditions are just ok. I don't think there's much the greens keepers can do about it, it's just the way the course plays. Marshy in several areas, lots of geese poop 🤣 I'd play the course again, just keep an opened mind.

The front nine is a fantastic design with a great variety of holes that presents a unique yet fair challenge to the golfer. The back nine tho specifically holes 12&13 are just an absolute disgrace to the game of golf and the residents of the county. To Ian the director of county golf you’re allowed to fill in the holes on hole 13 that routinely flood. You can justify the repair work as fixing divots caused by the golfer in order to get around the NJ DEPs mandate that you can’t raise the elevation of the fairway. Do what’s right for the residents of the county and fix the dam hole. The quick…

05-01-2025 We had a great time this morning. Fairways are very nice and well maintained. Some waterponds, springwater, rain and mud pots for natural. Staffs are very nice and warm welcomed by Rangers and clubhouse Mr. Jim and John. The restaurant is fantastic. Grill chicken sandwiches are special today. Cheddar cheese burgers are outstanding (outrageous). I need to go back!! It's a beautiful place to enjoy such nice day.

Considering all the rain we had this summer the course was in good shape. To all the inconsiderate golfers please replace your divets, especially at the ninth hole. It looked like a scene from Caddy Shack.

Extremely disappointed in the quality of this course. Was visiting with my son who is a resident. Paid over $200 for both of us 18 holes riding BUT $60 was for my son’s renewal of his county resident card. Balls are additional for the most used and abused balls I’ve ever seen. Course conditions were dismal to say the least. Greens were extremely damaged, many many ball marks of all ages present. We must have easily repaired 100 ball marks. Greens very soft although rolled pretty well despite all the damage. Some areas of the greens had no grass. Many deep divots throughout the fairways and no…

Some of the holes were water logged and in bad shape. However, Don the starter made it up by being friendly and helpful. I couldn’t locate my car after the round. He went around in his golf cart and located my car. Don is a fun guy with great attitude.
