In summary

Willow Creek Golf Course is appreciated for its scenic layout, friendly staff, and generally well-maintained greens, making it a pleasant experience for players of all levels. However, some visitors have noted issues with the condition of the cart paths, inconsistent maintenance of fairways, and occasional slow pace of play. While the course offers a relaxed atmosphere and reasonable pricing, some believe the fees do not always align with the quality of the facilities.

Decent enough track. Not super easy or super challenging. It's got a good number of holes with elevation changes that adds character to the course. The greens were in good condition considering it's mid February. Some of the fairways aren't in the best of shape and could use some work, but again that is one thing that should improve as it warms up. The third hole on the white 9 could really use some leaf clearing. There is a huge pile of them short and to the right of the green. Hit into there and you'll need great luck finding your ball.

Played the white and red course. Greens were well kept. There was a group outing the day that we played. The on course marshall kept things moving. We finished our round in 4 1/2 hours.

Very accessible local municipal golf course with three nines. White and Red are the more traditional 18 hole course, and the blue nine is the executive course, a shorter par 33. A couple water holes, a handful of bunkers, and large, old trees. Forgiving fairways.

Nice course, walked 18 with my buddy Jan 5th on a 60 degree day. It was a little sloppy, but super fun.didn't expect pristine greens, but it was easily playable.Great staff, loved the course, thanks for being open! See ya in the spring!

Worth trying once, but there's a lot better courses in town. Grass was not well cut/maintained, cart paths are rough and sometimes nonexistent. We played in the afternoon and were stuck behind a group of six, with another slow group ahead of them so we could not pass. Usually courses clear up in the afternoon but not this one!

Course was in pretty good shape for an over played public course. Rough is USGA length in spots and will slow play. Clubhouse carpet looks like a crime scene. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

The course has been my go to for years, but as of late, the grounds are not meeting expectations. The only saving grace of losing your ball in the rough is finding someone else’s ball to offset it. Point of advice: figure out when the mow schedule is and revolve your play around it.

Cart paths are pretty rough. Weird fairways. Grounds crew was spraying chemicals on the greens right after we played some holes. The smell of chemicals was thick. Not worth the time.

We always seem to be stuck behind multiple groups of 2 (not sure why they wouldn't pair them up). The cart path might be the worst in Des Moines. Overall decent; you know what you're getting at least.

The cart paths are legit perilous but other than that, the course maintenance here is way better than I remember it being a couple years ago, great fairways and greens. Super nice staff, great for new players. Rain heads up: If it rained >7 hours before you go it may be particularly soggy n muddy, drainage is not good, but it is what it is.

This is officially the worst golf course in town. Zero course maintenance. Cart paths are rutted and ancient. It’s safer to stay on the grass and tree limbs covered many of the paths. As for the grass, the fairways and roughs are not maintained at all. Neither has been mowed in at least four or five days and there are old dead limbs everywhere. The clubhouse is a mess and it’s clear no one cares about anything. One would think after cashing in $20 million from Microsoft the could put some money back into the course. Nope. Nothing. It’s a disgrace to a once fine municipal course. You all should…
