This is third course I played since visiting Iowa. Lots of hills, slopes and blind spots. Do yourself a favor and check out the layout before you start 😁. Played here Jun 4, 2026 and the overall condition of the course is outstanding. Plan on playing it again if I decide to visit Iowa in the near future. 👍

Classic old track with lush rolling hills and curved fairways. Great city course. Wish there was more space for the practice area. Great bar and pro shop inside

Beautiful historic course, hilly and challenging with lots of blind spots. Fun to play, but very buggy Pace of play was extremely slow. Very unfortunate they WAY overbooked the course and couldn't finish our round because it got dark. Took 2 hours 20 minutes to play 7 holes(with carts), don't know if I'd go back again.

Waveland is a beautiful golf course that has a lot of hills. Course is well maintained and looks great. Waveland also has a water fill up station which was nice. Great place to golf at.

Absolutely blown away by Waveland as a municipal golf course. Des Moines has a true gem. Course is fun, challenging, beautiful, and in great condition. Was in town from Wichita and saw it was highly rated. You locals should know how great of a course this is at the municipal level. Very impressive and can’t wait to come back!

OLDEST public course west of the Mississippi River. Great course to play if in des moines! Wish I had the time to play 18 but only got to play the front 9. The Crouse is well taken care of, beware the greens are fast and will fool you

First time on a golf course. Very pleasant. Lovely grounds, well kept. I think I'd like to learn and play, had a couple solid hits, satisfying indeed.

It had been 30 years since I played Waveland. I was just starting to golf. Waveland has many hills and blind shots to navigate. I lost plenty of balls. This time, my game has improved, and the course is in wonderful shape. I was impressed and am planning my next round. I wouldn't recommend walking the course unless you are in great shape. Waveland is a unique golf course and a true gem in the middle of Des Moines!

The good: The course is absolutely amazing in great shape. The greens are good and the holes are very nice. The course is also challenging which can be fun The Bad: Whenever I go here it’s always an old guy and he is very rude. The pace of play is also kind of slow on certain days

Played 31MAR2023 - First time playing. Really enjoyed the course although the greens hadn't filled in from being aerated. The weather wasn't the greatest but had a good time. Very hilly couse.

Fantastic Sledding in the winter months. If there is more than 4" of snow you're allowed to sled down the hills at your own risk. They are large and fast :)

Great conditions and still a tough course! Always play around least once a season!
