In summary

Willowhill Golf Course offers a unique 9-hole links-style experience with challenging elevation changes and stunning views of the Chicago skyline. Many appreciate the well-maintained greens and the course's layout, which provides a fun yet demanding round of golf. However, some visitors have expressed concerns about ongoing construction, which affects playability and course aesthetics, and the pricing, which some find steep given the current conditions.

Beautiful 9 hole Links style course 30 minutes north of the city. High elevation and lots of rolling hills maybe for interesting play and beautiful views. Nice mix of par 3s through 5. Fun fact! it used to be a big garbage dump before they turned into a wonderful rec area - on the drive up you can see the stations where the vent (burn?) gas from deep below.

I would definitely not recommend to play here for next couple of months. Below review mentioned 30% is under improvement/repair whatever you wanna call what they are doing, but it was unplayable as there are machines and workers around the greens and most bunkers are covered with concrete. But they still charge you $30 which looks like a regular price. I don’t think this place is ready to open or at least charge discounted price (and post on website that this course is under serious construction). No wonder we were like 5 people on the course.

I was a Surveyor at this landfill before they put the golf course on top. The price is a little steep for 9 holes (could be why so many players were walking it - no cart), but it's a challenging 9 with sloping fairways and plenty of links-style moguls if you miss the fairways! The greens are in good shape, undulating and readable, and roll pretty true. Up high and definitely breezy! Great views of Chicago in the distance!

Do not sleep on this 9 hole. The course is shaped by all the hills and undulations and it plays very well. You need to plan out how to attack the pin as the greens can easily slope your ball all the way off of it. The layout is nice with 2 par 5 holes and the par 3 holes sprinkled throughout. Would recommend anyone here to enjoy a round. Edit: 5/30/22 - I still enjoy this course and I'm not sure if it was the same price as my previous review but for 9 holes and a cart, $40 is pushing it. I know with Covid and everything, golf has gotten more popular but prices are starting to become like the…

If you’re looking for a challenging 9-hole course in this area, this is it. Course layout is perfect for an emergency 9 or a fun round with some challenging winds, terrain level changes. Course is challenging as every shot will have some elevation and your feet will rarely be level. For the price, damn good 9-hole.

Public 9 hole course. Its tight, small room for error. Was built on a landfill. No trees on course, kind of hilly. I found the greens to be poorly maintained. First timer so not sure if that's normal. Found an online deal $22/p + $11 per rider for a cart.

Great little 9 hole course. My one piece of advice is to take a golf cart! Do Not walk this course! We did our first time out, and it was like walking up and down a roller coaster! No water hazards..big plus for me! And even though it looks "wide open", there are some very tricky holes. Can't wait to go back again!

As we went on our daily adventure, we drove by a beautiful building that reminded me of Germany. My boyfriend looked over and said “I think that’s the building I saw when I went golfing with my uncle! Wait ‘till I take you to the top of the hill at Willow Hill Golf Course!” I was speechless. After a few minutes of being there we met Kari who gave us the scoop on all the wonderful things her husband Ken has brewing in his head for this place. Ken showed up a few minutes later super excited, and told us about a new building he’s about to put on the property… bullet proof windows. Why!? Because i…

Wide open 9 hole course. No trees anywhere. Very hilly, making for a fyn challenge, especially on the greens. Grass on the course is pretty well kept but it sure seemed like this former landfill is still an active landfill. Please plant some trees for shade if nothing else. Cart paths are just asphalt gravel. Map on the score card does not reflect the current layout but 18 birdies app's map is up to date.

Greens are good. Fairways are ok. Club house, range and putting green all over good. I'll be back.

Nice course but on a Friday at 5 the ranger was going ballistic yelling at people. I complained to the clubhouse and they could care less. Gotta fire these people.
