In summary

Winchelsea View Golf Course is appreciated for its scenic views, family-friendly atmosphere, and improvements made by the new owners, making it an enjoyable and accessible course for players of all skill levels. The course offers good value and a pleasant layout, though some visitors have noted issues with maintenance, particularly the greens and fairways, and difficulties with power cart availability. While many commend the friendly staff, there are reports of less favorable interactions affecting the overall experience.

Update. The owners are doing a great job with the course and update club house. Great place for you and your buddies or family to golf. Challenging enough that it's a fair game and approachable enough for the wife. See ya next time. 🤟 Good shorter 18 hole course. Played here onc last yr and again recently. Greens are decent not amazing. The course layout is not too challenging but has some good raises or lowered greens for more difficulty approaches. Long drivers will wish the holes were longer or maybe like their trying to get eagles on par 4s. Would recommend to anyone.

This is golf! Space to crank on it, slopes, views, massive greens, and all for a good value. I played six courses between Comox and Nanaimo on a trip this October, Qualicum was the nicest, but this one is just better.

The amount of work this course has undergone to improve the greens and boxes deserves a round of applause. Well done. Very affordable and great views.

Booked a tee time for 9:10 and when speaking to the gentleman on the phone (who was super rude) we asked to book two power carts as one of the individuals we were golfing with is pregnant. When we arrived they said there were now power carts available. The gentleman was not apologetic and took no ownership that this could have been a mistake made by them. Super disappointing and will not be returning. After reading the reviews seems like renting power carts is a common issue.

Absolutely the Best Family-Friendly Golf Course! Our family includes players of all skill levels, and every time we come here, everyone has a great time. The course is perfect for a fun and relaxed day out, no matter your experience. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, which makes the whole experience even better. If you're just starting out or looking to improve your game, I highly recommend taking a lesson with golf pro Ian—he’s fantastic!

Pros: Good views and friendly staff in the pro shop. Cons: This course is currently extremely under kept, the T boxes and (most but not all) fairways are majority sand and dirt or a compact mud grass mix. There is black tarps coming out of the sand pit on one hole. There is sprinkler heads and drain pipes coming out of the kart path in two areas so watch your step! The greens are my biggest issue. I've never putted on such badly kept greens. It's as if your ball is on sand in that it weaves and bobs around due to the uneven surface. The greens were recently aerated and perhaps excess that…

After a long hiatus I started back to golf a year ago at this hidden gem .....great course for all levels of players. Recent upgrades are fantastic and the views are lovely. Especially want to thank "Mac", the golf pro, for making a "newbie" comfortable and confident. His great sense of humour is so welcoming. Also would like to give a shout out to Paul and Kimberley who are so friendly and welcoming as well.

Everything was in great shape. Greens, fairways, tee boxes. This course is great value for the cost. Definitely coming back.

The pro shop man was gruff and unhelpful. For many of the 9 holes, the greenskeeper was in our way when he mowed. There are no helpful arrows to direct golfers to the next hole. Confusing layout, and with several flags in view, sometimes unclear which one to shoot for. No maps by the tee boxes to show the layout of the hole, and not even a sketch of the course layout on the scorecard. Greens are in good shape, but the tee offs have lots of divots. We won't be back.

Paul the pro shop attendant was very professional. I moved over from Toronto 8 months ago to Port Alberni and my friend asked me to play his new course. This course is a hidden gem. Beautiful views and very playable for new comers to the game. I believe the work that the maintenance crew has been remarkable. Thank you for the positive experience

Just moved to the area so this was the first time playing the course. The length is perfect for me and I loved the course layout itself. It had rained the night before so the course was in terrible shape. Along with the fairways being exceptionally wet, the greens were very shaggy. This course has so much potential if the drainage and maintenance was better. We will try again next summer after a long dry period and hopefully it will be in better shape.

Managed to get a morning t-time. Course was in good shape. Fairways were lush and greens almost all smooth and true. When I was booking, it would have been nice to be warned that power cart rentals are not available to non-members. Great fun, challenging and good value.
