In summary

Winston Lake Golf Course is praised for its significant improvements and excellent value, with many noting the well-maintained fairways, beautiful setting, and friendly staff. The ongoing renovations, including tree removal and back nine updates, have enhanced the playability and visual appeal. However, some visitors mention issues with slow greens and challenging rough, as well as occasional service concerns. Overall, the course is considered a great option for its price, with potential for further improvement once renovations are complete.

Played for the first time here in over 20 years. I was shocked at all the work they have done over the years. It’s way more playable now even though it’s still very challenging. The 2nd nine will be reopened in October. The greens were perfect along with the fairways. Can’t wait to come back to play the all new back 9. It’s the best value in the triad with so many courses going up on rates. $20-25 to play 18 is insane value.

Really enjoyed playing here. Saturday morning in August, course was green and in great shape (a couple greens had some bad spots but if you are the kind of person to get bent out of shape because of that...then you're either a jerk and shouldn't play here or you think your'e going pro once you fix that slice and you shouldn't play here either.) Course is great value, love the terrain changes.

This place would be a v 5 for service and amenities. It is a 4 simply due to ongoing renovations. The fairways are all good, well maintained and manicured. The rough along most holes is almost completely unplayable - they have recently cut and chipped a lot of trees, and it is spread along the sudes of the fairways. The greens were a mixed bag. All of the greens were super hard, almost like hitting onto a wooden floor instead of a green that lets the ball bite and sit down like most greens do. Many of the greens had bad spots and bald spots, making drop zones a necessary part of playing throug…

We played a week ago with the course fully open. Wow! What a difference! They have really opened up the course with some major tree removal. The greens are in pretty good shape for fall. There were a couple greens that need some regrowth but I'm sure they'll come in nicely, as the rest were fine. Staff was friendly and the rates were great! We will be back often.

Hadn’t played here in about 10 years because I just didn’t really like the course, but they have completely revamped this course and recent years. They just completely redid the back 9 (opens this month) removed basically all of the trees, fairways are like carpet, greens and turf around the greens are immaculate, super nice range and chipping area. played 9 in 1.5 hrs. $25 to play 18. Can be challenging but a lot of fun. The place will be perfect next year. Will be my go to from now on.

Played here today for the first time, and we were very impressed! Looks like they have, and are continuing to do, a lot of work on the course and it shows! The fairways were maintained, tee boxes were in great shape, and the greens looked great. WELL worth the price, we will definitely be back!

First time at Winston Lake in years. They have removed thousands of trees to open the course to more sunlight, and the transformation is amazing! The tees and fairways are excellent, and most of the greens are full. There are a couple of greens that look a little rough, but overall the course is very good. Staff is very friendly, even giving 90-year-old Charlie a "discount" from $120 down to $110...just kidding. Senior rate to play and ride during the week is $20. That's right, $20 to ride 18 holes for seniors! And $10 to walk!! Definitely wear comfortable shoes, because even though a lot of t…

Cool layout of a course, but the greens were ATROCIOUSLY SLOW. I MEAN, SO SLOW. That’s a big golfing pet peeve of mine, so for that reason alone, I didn’t enjoy the course that much. Fairways are fine. Rough is nasty. I won’t be coming back, but I assume you get what you pay for. $25 on a Sunday morning.

Beautiful course great grass ,also it is under construction for the back . Witch doesn't give the 5 but never the less you can definitely "feel" the legacy this place built ; almost a step your game up to bring out the best in yourself as well as great camaraderie. Food and pro shop are clean cut
