In summary

Yahara Hills Golf Club offers a generally enjoyable golfing experience with well-maintained greens and a fair layout that accommodates various skill levels. The staff is often praised for being pleasant and accommodating, contributing to a positive atmosphere. However, many visitors express concerns about the poor condition of the bunkers, which are frequently overgrown with weeds, and the occasional slow pace of play. Some also mention issues with course management and unexpected fees, which detract from the overall experience.

The first time I've played here in almost 20 years. Played the front nine on the East course. The greens were in good condition, but can't believe how poor of condition they've allowed the rest to get. Tons of areas where the fairway has no grass. Many areas where the grass and roots are separating from the earth beneath it causing terrible ruts. I was most disappointed in the bunkers. It looks like they haven't received any maintenance in a decade. Some of them are almost completely grassed over. If they aren't going to take care of them, they should just fill them in with dirt and seed them…

My group of four enjoyed a very pleasant round of golf at Yahara West this morning! The course isn’t in perfect condition (some of the sand bunkers are overgrown, and parts of the fairway are regrowing), but it’s certainly playable. The greens were in great shape when we played. We also found Yahara to be a pretty good course for a wide range of skill levels. Staff were all very pleasant to work worth, and we never felt terribly rushed while playing. All around, this is a pretty solid public course! Can’t wait to return and play again soon.

I walked on on a weekday and it wasn’t busy. Told me $49 with cart and then $51 something with tax. Seemed a little high. It’s more of a $35 riding type course for weekdays. But the worst part was he charged me a “reservation fee” without even telling me. So when i got home i saw the charge was $54 something instead of $51 as he told me. Then i saw i had an email confirming a tee time which i never made. That’s some cheap bs upcharging. I guess they hope people won’t notice or care. I wouldn’t play there again for $50 but definitely won’t play there at any rate after experiencing their dishone…

Really surprised by how nice the East Course was. I know that was the more popular one, will have to try the West Course next time. Greens were fast and challenging...large greens. Beautiful trees line the course and it's fair. Super value and a worth a visit and play. Hope they can keep 36 holes open. *Update: after playing here many times now I do have some updated observations. There is no bunker upkeep..maybe one ok bunker on a par 3. The rough is very punishing..hard to find your ball or hit out of, if you end up in it.*

Please please avoid at this moment in time. I have never seen a golf course in such bad shape. Bunkers are nonexistent right now. There are filled with weeds and unplayable. The rough has not been cut in forever. Go check out Odana if you want decent playing conditions. I will not be returning to Yahara for a long while. Also pace of play is terribly slow. Madison public golf needs to get it right. The prices are too high for the quality that they offer....

Starter needs to give it up, he is rude every time we play. No matter how early or ready you are, he’s always horrible to talk to. He’s grumpy and he makes this place miserable to come to. Course is usually torn to shreds too. Go anywhere else.

Big greens, wide open fairways, a good place to work on your game. Bunkers need alot of love or they just need to get rid of some of them as they’ve effectively become waste areas. Feel like the value is not there for what they’re charging until they figure out the bunker situation. Nobody wants to guess what you’re supposed to do when you’re in a greenside bunker full of weeds and hard pan.

The course was in really good shape and the greens were medium fast. We played at a decent pace with no pressure from behind and not having to wait for any group ahead of us. The price of $63 with the cart was reasonable. All of the staff I interacted with were pleasant and helpful. Thankfully the wind was blowing to the north so we were not treated to any landfill aromas. Always a plus at Yahara Hills. All in all a pleasant day.

Nice golf course…course design is fair and challenging without excessively high penalty for being slightly errant in your ball placement. Greens are nice…fair targets for distances and contours are interesting without getting ridiculous. very well maintained and super nice staff!

Bunkers full of weeds and rocks unplayable, greens have a disease of some sort huge bald patches,I don't know if they have a mower at this course.i can see why they sold part of it.looks to me they should sell the whole thing.over priced.it should be called the dump golf resort. TERRIBLE.

We were yelled at walking in, rushed the entire time, and paired with two people randomly with no warning. Only come here if you are a PGA level golfer, otherwise you will be too slow and they will let you know

Fairways and greens were in great shape. Sandtraps had grass and weeds and some of the puddles had frogs. Nice course to drink a beer with your buddies. I don't recommend it if you want to be challenged.
