In summary

Alfred Holmes Golf Club is appreciated for its affordable pricing and friendly staff, offering a challenging layout with some fun and unique holes. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's maintenance, noting issues with sandy tee boxes, weedy fairways, and inconsistent greens. Additionally, some players experience slow pace of play and limited amenities, such as unavailable carts and insufficient water supplies.

We were so thankful this course was open on a rainy muddy day for the boys to practice on. The staff was super nice and the greens looked great freshly mowed!

Condition of the course left a lot to be desired. Most tee boxes were completely dirt. I have never played worse tee boxes in my life (across hundreds of courses played)—hence the one-star rating. On course restroom was locked/out of service. Substantial backup on tee #9 (four groups on tee). No on-course marshal regulating play (the foursome in front of us turned into a fivesome on #9). The course did not have enough carts available for the afternoon wave. Pro shop was out of service at 3:30PM on a weekend so staff could “clean” (never encountered that at any golf course on a weekend). 5 hour…

This course is absolutely terrible. I’ve played so many courses in Georgia and this is in the worst shape. The greens are pitiful. The fairways are just dirt and mud. The tea boxes are like baseball batter boxes with how much dirt there is and no grass. The pace of play is the slowest in the state. This course should not take over five hours to play, but it does. The clubhouse has no water or Gatorade‘s to supply. The water jug on the course is from the hose. Yes fairways are tight, but the conditions of the course are poor. It’s a shame that the city doesn’t put more money into this course. T…

Nice course but if it's busy, be ready to wait for a cart. Otherwise the staff was really professional and the course is very well maintained.

I’m torn with how I feel about this course because the price is fantastic and the layout is great. It’s big with open/wide fairways, you don’t have to worry about hitting homes or the roads, there are plenty of fun holes; whoever designed this course knew what they were doing. But, whoever is taking care of the course doesn’t. My biggest gripe with the course is the grass. There’s no distinction between fairways, rough, fringe, OB, and on some holes even the green!! The grass is just one height across the board which makes it incredibly frustrating when you hit a great shot down the fairway an…

Fairways and greens are fine, however the teeboxes are absolutely horrible. The design is not good either (hole 17 especially) weird tee shots totally blocked by trees.

After such a negative experience at Legacy, it was actually refreshing to see a club care about its customers… I highly recommend take the 16 mile drive from Smyrna, pace of play 3.5 hours for par 72 or 4 hours for executive course with attitude!!

You get what you pay for. Cheap course, some of the fairways were pretty rough. Appropriately priced. Not busy on a Monday morning. Will be back again!

Giving this a 3 only due to the course conditions compared to Browns Mill and Chastain/ North Fulton courses, which are also City of Atlanta Golf Public Courses and priced similarly. Layout is fun and wide open most of the time, but with a handful of really challenging/long par 4s thrown in. Loved the elevated tee boxes on a few holes. Front 9 is much harder than the back, and specifically the last 3-4 holes give you a great chance of ending your round with a birdie or two. I would say the bunkers are in good shape. Definitely better than Browns Mill. But the greens are in pretty bad shape…

Greens are awful, waited an hour for a cart and gave people behind us before our tee time. Cheap and not sure you get what you pay for

Atlanta city golf course. Good value. Tee box is all sandy.. but I can't complain for what I paid for. Many fun holes. Highly recommended.

No restaurant or bar, snacks available. Very low price ..so great value for money. Some very difficult but fun holes. My only issue was that 9th and 17th are side by side over a valley where the cart path runs between/across them.. Be extremely careful as you are in danger after teeing off. If everyone is sensible you'll be fine. With that in mind I would definitely return here
