In summary

Battle Lake Golf Course is appreciated for its friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and enjoyable layout, which includes water hazards and challenging turns. Many visitors note improvements under new management, particularly in course conditions and maintenance efforts. However, some golfers have raised concerns about the state of the fairways, cart paths, and greens, with some areas being described as rough or poorly maintained. Despite these issues, the course remains a popular choice for those seeking a relaxed and affordable golfing experience.

Me and a couple buddies met here for a 9:30am Sunday tee time. It was the perfect meeting spot between Austin and Dallas. The staff, especially Amanda, were VERY nice and welcoming! The fresh cooked wings and hotdogs were great at the turn as well. The course was a a great layout. Plenty of water hazards and some sharp turns on the back 9. Fairways and most tee boxes were in good-great condition. However, the greens were it rougher shape. They’re currently working on patching and repairing the greens but there was some sand that killed a couple of our shots. Also, it wasn’t something that held…

Get what you pay for... Lay out of the course is fun, not very challenging. What does make it challenging are the conditions. Tee greens were doable, fairways are mostly dead grass and hard compact dirt, you have to pick the ball clean every single shot, but I did enjoy some 300+ total yard rollouts with driver because of it😆. Forget about using fairway woods unless your an elite ball striker😬. Greens were rock hard, but had grass. Looked as if they are working on them. You can tell they were freshly seeded recently. Hitting a good approach shot on the green will be awarded with it rolling righ…

Very nice course despite being dry and hot. Contractors were working on site but were very polite and respectful of the golfers and let us play through. Contractors also cleaned up their excavations really smooth and nice.

Fairly nice course but not $50 bucks nice unfortunately 🤷🏼‍♂️ greens decent but fairways and tee boxes are probally the worst I’ve seen within accessible courses in our area. Lake Waco, bear ridge, cottonwood etc…I would say lower prices or improve these issues to make worth price of admission.

Played there 7-12. Had read previous reviews and also took into account there is a substantial drought in progress and water restrictions. Nice little course. Short 10-15 minute drive from Waco. Greens we’re in decent shape, fairways are dry but expected with the current conditions. Good carts, challenging hilly course with a few semi blind shots, and All in all it was a good change from most city courses. Pace was good, locals let me play through nicely, very friendly. I was in no hurry but they were not either. I would say that the references to being a “cow pasture” were way off. Staff on t…

With the new management that took over a while back, the course has improved tremendously. Looks like they are taking measures to water more by catching more rain water. Cant wait to see how it looks next spring! Update... I was right. More improvements since I left this review above. Battlelake is always changing for the better. It will always test your golf skills.

This was the worst golf course I've ever played in my life. Playing the blues made it extremely challenging , but the fairways were nonexistent. Tee boxes were not taken care of at all. The best that can be said is that the greens were extremely consistent. If it had better upkeep, I would definitely return. It's a great track , but , again , not very well maintained.
