In summary

Burnham Woods Golf Course is appreciated for its scenic setting with plenty of trees and a generally quiet atmosphere. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's maintenance, citing issues with fairways, greens, and tee boxes, which are often described as poorly kept. While the staff is generally noted as friendly, some players have experienced delays due to course conditions and a lack of carts during busy times, impacting the overall value for money.

Man, this course is no better than a farmer who makes a free course on their land for little kids. It’s a shame it’s $50+ to play 18 with a cart. Hit a fairway? Nice, unfortunately it’s just the rough. In the rough? Nice, it’s no worse than a fairway. In the bunker? Nice, club up because you’re playing out of the rough. Greens are laughably dead. Tee boxes have ant hills all over them. The location is nice, but you may be stuck behind a train dead on the tracks for 30 mins. Shorted gentleman behind the desk is very nice and has a lively attitude. Taller guy with gray locks is rude. Save your m…

It’s insulting that I’m being charge over $50 for a course like this. There’s literally NO fairway. Oh wait, I’m sorry, the rough is the fairly. The greens are patchy, the tee boxes are mole hills. My favorite thing about this course is instead of fixing the green they just drilled a hole and threw a pin in on hole 5. I hope you’re good at chipping because there’s no chance at a clean putt.

Decent experience. Inexpensive course, but needs better upkeep. We didn’t think it was a great value. Few hazards, but greens are small and some fairways are tight, which we felt made the course relatively challenging. Took just under 5 hours to ride 18, rangers pushing pace of play would have been beneficial. We were told there would be brats, dogs and polish sausages for lunch. When we stopped at the turn there was a single bratwurst (pictured) available for purchase, and although it was tasty, we were disappointed. The course also ran out of carts around noon, which didn’t impact my round…

Pleasant course with lots of trees and very little water, very quiet and serene... lots of wild turkeys and no goose poop!! Course maintenance on lots of little things frustrated me!! 1. No water in the bucket for towels at hole#1. 2. The fairways and rough had the same length of cut which often times made easy fairway shots difficult to find which slowed pace. 3. Ball scrubbers and towels poorly maintained at every hole!! 4. About 4 greens showed long term damage with no visible signs of attempted repair.

Needs better upkeep. The grass is not cut and you will loose a lot of balls. There is literally a hole in the green on 14 and the course does not drain well. Yesterday holes 2,3, & 4 were closed and there were no tee markers on any holes. Billy Casper (the operator) and the Cook County Forest Preserve needs to do better. The staff is nice but the upkeep of the course is poor :-( 9.15.2020 Course is in better shape. Glad to see the improvements. 10.17.2020 better.

I have been here before. Didn't like it then, hated it this time around. The course seems to be getting worse. First of all, the tee boxes are either rock hard with no grass, muddy or there's high grass and mud. The fairways are mostly crabgrass and if you miss the fairways by a foot or more, you may lose your ball. The grass is so very high. On a few holes, it was hard to find the ball in the fairway because of all the leaves from the trees. It is inexpensive but even that will not entice me to come back.

I played the back 9 3 times this weekend. It was a miserable experience. You’re probably wondering why I played it 3 times if it was so bad. You’re also probably asking yourself what about the front 9? I don’t have good answers to these questions but I do know that this course has the least amount of effort put into it in the country. Bring hiking boots with you, there’s a good chance you’ll find yourself in a crater. They did have a nice spread of toppings for hot dogs however. I intend to go back to play the front 9 someday. That could drastically change my opinion, but until then 👎

Greens were in “alright” shape so you can putt. As for the rest of the course it’s almost unplayable. Tee boxes are not well kept. Fairways are poorer than the rough at a nice course. The fairway (or rough) is so bad, you can lose a ball if you’re not careful. I would personally choose another course and likely won’t be back unfortunately.

No fairways and the greens are in rough condition. The worker with the dreads is very rude.

No fairways. It is all just rough grass with a mix of mud holes. Teeboxes are also rough grass. Holes are also right next to each other so make sure you bring a helmet! Inexpensive but not worth

It was a beautiful day to be on the course and the course was in good condition. I would come 1-2 a season before because the condition of course was terrible. If they keep it as it was today will be looking forward to coming out more often and invite other to come and play. Great improvements on course.
