In summary

River Oaks Golf Course is generally appreciated for its well-maintained greens, challenging layout, and friendly staff, creating an enjoyable atmosphere for golfers. Many visitors find the course to be a good value for the price, with improvements noted in recent years. However, some recurring criticisms include issues with bunker conditions, slow pace of play, and occasional staffing challenges, particularly affecting the availability of golf carts.

I like this course. The price is affordable and they keep it well maintained. Best to get out early. Some of the trees need to be trimmed because they hang over the fairway on some holes. I'm sure they will cut them,... I hope Update: The bunkers today were terrible. I dare someone to play out of them. C'mon River Oaks, step it up. I still enjoyed the course minus the bunkers. 😡

Recently played here for the first time. It's a decent course for the price and usually isn't backed up during the day. A LOT of water as hazards, in bunkers or in the cups on the green. Played here several times since and will continue. It's in better condition than other couses that charge more.

I played course for the first today. I did like the course layout - it had a good variety of holes. The course it self is pretty flat. There is quite a bit of water hazards on the course, although it really only comes into play on a handful of holes. The greens varied quite a bit in quality - a few were quite chewed up, while most were in pretty good condition. Overall, they played slow. So, although quality of course was not quite up to par, the price was reasonable, and again, I enjoyed the layout.

While it is in great shape, they ruined one of my favorite courses! I haven't played here in 20 years or so and was really looking forward to playing it this year. It was a course that you had to think your way around, but they have taken all of the character away, and now it's a shadow of itself! What a disappointment!!!!!

Love the course. 12 needs a little work but overall good course. The reason I wont be back is Jenny in the pro shop. Her attitude is horrible and she is eating and talking to customers at the same time. More focused on the hot dog and chips then dealing with customers. Jenny refused to honor my reservation from the tee off app. I went ahead and paid to play but I will not return.

Played this course in October and man what a bad idea that was. The fairways were liquid, bunkers were water hazards, massive holes in the middle of the fairways. Guy at the pro shop was cool, and the course was relatively empty (understandable) so it went quick. People told me this place once was a great course, I hope it can return to what it once was

Beautiful place! Wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived but I know now it will be one of my favorites. Talked with the starter as we ate lunch, good guy and all the staff are friendly and courteous. Course was in excellent condition. Even the temporary green on 14 was really good. Excellent job!

I have been going here on and off for a few years because it’s close to a dear friend of mine. I always thought why?? I went with him today and thought Wow. What did Covid do this place?! The greens were in such great shape. And all round improved! I actually thought to myself. Can’t wait to come back and get my money back from Tim ! Whatever changed it keep it up! It was so sweet

I don’t get the bad reviews recently. If u played the course last year you would know! The course is 100% better this year than last year. Greens, tee boxes, everything. Whatever there doing it’s a step in right direction. I am glad to see things getting better and hope they keep it up!

Course is under serious construction. Holes in fairways for sprinkler repairs and the 12th hole is closed. Not sure why it's open right now. The course is rock hard in most places. 8.30.20 Look forward to when the renovations are completed. Starter team is great and helpful.

This course is a well kept secret. Greens are well kept. Layout is challenging for most. Even if played often, can still be fun and enjoyable. Golf carts are too slow and in the fall the leaves make it difficult to find your ball. One hole (#12) on the back nine seems to have a drainage problem after a heavy rain. I still love the course.
