In summary

Castle Oaks Golf Club is frequently praised for its picturesque setting, highlighted by stunning oak trees and views of Preston Castle, as well as its well-maintained course and friendly staff. Many visitors appreciate the challenging layout and the amenities such as a restaurant and driving range. However, some guests have noted issues with course conditions, such as unmanaged rough and slow pace of play, while others mention occasional service delays and the need for clearer signage. Recent management changes have shown promise in addressing some of these concerns.

I spent my birthday here, and I am still in awe. This was hands down the best birthday golf adventure I have ever had. Castle Oaks feels like stepping into a California postcard. The course is beautifully maintained, but what makes it unforgettable are the oak trees. I have lived in California my whole life, and I have never truly seen oak trees this stunning. They feel ancient, rooted, and powerful. The kind of trees that make you stop mid swing to breathe and take it all in. The shadows they cast across the course are pure magic. You will love all the views, especially those with a view of…

Beautiful course, kept in great condition. Greens were rolling fast when I played. Plenty of challenging holes. I really liked the food in the restaurant. Solid cheeseburger with nicely seasoned and crispy French fries. Service was very friendly as well. Can't wait to get back

Could be amazing. First of all it's beautiful and second it's tough. The problem is condition in that the rough is completely unmanaged. We spent 5 -10 minutes on many holes, looking for balls just off the fairways and we knew exactly where they landed. Also, the clumps of mowed grass were everywhere including on the greens from shoes. Turned out to be a frustrating day with what should have been some fun holes.

Solid 4 stars - I would come back. I played the course on Saturday at 2pm. I only played the front 9, but the course was in good shape. Greens rolled solid, and fairways were well kept. The course felt completely fair. I will say, pace of play was a bit slow. I played as a single and was stuck behind a threesome for six holes. I didn't see a marshal out there (maybe there is a marshal but I didn't see one). Seems like they also run out of carts super fast - I would suggest showing up atleast 40 minutes before your tee time to secure a cart.

I thought it would b difficult to fit in at a "Golf Club" but the bartender made us feel so welcome, talked with us and was absolutely personable. Love this place!! Would recommend it if ur a golfer or just passing through.

I've been playing this course since the late 1990's and enjoy the challenge it provides. It'll definitely test your patience and skill! The greens are normally in good shape and fast! The fairways can be challenging, most are moderately wide, with a few dog legs too. There are many hazards to watch for, especially the hidden sand traps! The electric golf carts are in good condition, they got all new one's two years ago I believe. The pro shop has a lot more golf attire for men than they do for women, and not a whole lot of variety. They have a driving range, a small pitching area with a sand t…

We had a great day at Castle Oaks. We went out as a twosome and there was plenty of room in front and in back of us. The course was in decent shape. The sandwich shop is not open anymore but I heard the bar was still open.

Found a red golf ball in the bushes today. Logo ball. Castle Oaks Golf Club. I’m here on number 18 at Ridgeview Ranch Golf in Plano, Texas. I live on the right side of #18. Statue of golfer in by the pool. I’ll save for you. California, you’re a long way from home. Tried a Whataburger yet, lots better than In and out.

I got on as a single and I was first out on a gorgeous day. I had not played the track previously so I hit from a few different areas. I put these pictures from hole 12 because I was both surprised to see "Mulligans" on a fence at the tee, and these trees that guard the green 60 yards out. Nice 3 hour round with no one behind me!! I was greeted by a cordial clubhouse guy Bob. Since I was out early I ran into a few maintenance people but they were great and paused work on the tees or out in the fairways when I was teeing off. Great track and worth the drive!!!

This course changed owners over summer and in this short period of time the new owners impact is nothing short of transformative. Why just “4 Stars”? Getting to the next tee box can be a bit confusing. Looking forward to those “Next whole this way >” signs. 8 of very much enjoyed our round this week.
