In summary

Deerwood Country Club is appreciated for its challenging and scenic layout, with some visitors noting improvements in course conditions over time. However, many reviewers express significant dissatisfaction with the current state of the greens and fairways, citing poor maintenance and high fees as ongoing issues. The staff, particularly in event planning, receives praise for their attentiveness and service, though some encounters with pro shop personnel have been less favorable.

Played today, great course for the area. Some greens need a little help but other then that, love the layout. Can't beat it for the price.

I must say that when the other venue had to cancel my reservation, I basically had to scramble to find another venue asap. When I say Deerwood came through for my husband's retirement party, they came through. Working with Will Thompson was a pleasure. He was patient and very attentive from beginning to end. The food and service was top notch. The salmon was so moist and tender it melted in your mouth...the Caribbean Chicken was awesome!!! We were very impressed with the food and level of service given. So hats off to Will Thompson and the Executive Chef. Job well done!!! (Decorations: Picture…

Course is very nice and scenic. However, the old gentleman working at the pro shop needs customer service training and an attitude adjustment. I went to check in for a tee time that I booked on Golfnow that was prepaid. He didn't believe me and said "not on my watch" and wanted me to double pay. I pulled the confirmation on the app and showed him. He still didn't believe it was real. He snatch my phone and took it to the manager who was outside the clubhouse. I was so confused. Finally the manager said it's fine and told me to proceed to the first tee. Back in pro shop, the old gentleman looke…

The overall course condition is much more improved from when I last played here. Though it’s still a bit patchy in some areas on the back nine at the par 3s, if the price remains reasonable I will gladly continue coming here for the challenging layout. The pro shop staff was friendly from my experience.

I hosted my daughter’s baby shower here today and I have to say……. BOOK your party here! Will and his team are the absolute best. The attention to detail is like no other. They anticipate everything and go above and beyond. I will never host a party anywhere else .

I’m trying to figure out why some people are saying the course is in terrible shape. I played there today and had really no complaints. There was maybe three greens that still needed some work and maybe a few spots on a couple fairways. Is it in immaculate shape it was years ago no but it’s also not in horrible shape. You can tell they have addressed a lot of the issues they have had in the past.

I wrote the review below two years ago. After showing some type of promise in the beginning of the 2025 golf year, it is clear that this ownership has completely given up on maintaining this course. It is one thing for this course to be in the shape it is in, it is a whole different thing for the ownership to still be able to charge $68-$88 to play here. They could PAY me $88 (they should be paying customers to play here anyway) to play this course I would still decline. The ownership should do this area and the state of NJ a favor and shut this course down and sell it to ownership who actuall…

Everytime I play here there's an issue. Always kart path only. The restaurant/bar is closed. No kart girl. Hole 11 is closed. But yet it's the most expensive place around to play. The course it not well taken care of. Every year it's like this. This is my last round ar deerwood. Play at hanover course. Half the cost and the greens are way better. Pics are from hole 1 fairway and the green but every hole is like this. Horrible.

This course used to be my favorite in the area. Awesome transition from links style front, to wooded back. I have no idea what’s happened to it. Just miserable conditions, but still charging $100 to play. The first photo attached is a tee vid. The second is a green! It’s borderline unplayable.

I really don’t like giving bad reviews online. I feel like sometimes they are just a snippet and it’s not fair to the business. In this case, I don’t Believe that to be the case. I have never played a course in worse condition before in my life. I understand things happen, especially with the weather we’ve been having. But when I read the reviews and the same conditions were present over the last couple years, they’re doing something wrong. There were two greens that were absolutely unplayable. There were several greens with huge holes, presumably from a groundhog. There were greens where we h…

This course used to be private which you would think the upkeep would be a priority, well I was wrong. The layout of the course is great and can be difficult but the condition is terrible. The greens are either patchy or doesn't even look like a green, they're more like a fairway and that's giving it way too much credit. Which leads me to my next problem, how do you justify charging ppl that much for a green fee, knowing you guys aren't taking care of the course. Y'all gotta do better

Don’t waste your money. Played this course yesterday. Conditions were terrible. Many of the greens have weeds growing all over them and have not been maintained. Fairways are not much better. Lots of dirt, mud, and weeds. It’s been a few years since I played here. It has really gone downhill 😢
