In summary

Ebony Hills Golf Course is appreciated for its affordability and welcoming atmosphere, making it a popular choice for both locals and visitors. The course is beginner-friendly with improvements noted in the greens, though the fairways and tee boxes are often criticized for their dry and patchy conditions. While the staff receives praise for their helpfulness, some visitors highlight the need for better maintenance of facilities and clearer communication regarding events and tee times.

For 20 dollars, honestly one of the best rates for the valley. The greens are in great condition but not so much on the fairways. Mostly came for the fun and to relax, and the course provided.

I saw this course had a 4.3 rate, not sure how. The greens are a mix of different grasses, the fairways are dirt or at the least 75% dirt. If you find grass, not sure what it was, fescue maybe? I gave it an extra star for learning how to hit the ball off a hard dirt surface....that's the challenge on this course.

Didn't play golf. Went to go see the Viet Nam War Memorial. Kind of the city of Edinburg and Ebony Golf course to host this Memorial.

The course is in bad shape, and most of the greens are dried up. Also, the fairways are bad, but not as bad as the greens. FOLLOW UP: The course is not in such a bad shape anymore (as of 10/18/24).The greens are still not great, but the fairways have definitely been improved on. This golf course is definitely getting better and I'm glad to see it!!!

It’s old and no one follows rules. Don’t expect a country club feel. Great for those of us that don’t like being around golf bros. You will enjoy the challenge.

Very economical course, but you do get what you pay for.

Good course for all kinds of players! Yellow/gold balls are somewhat difficult to see in the summer. Awesome electric carts! Over all nice facilities! Keep up the good work! Nice and friendly staff that are willing to help!

It is a great course to play 9 or 18 holes. And, it is affordable ($20).

I grew up in the course , lived on hole 4 and would always come out and practice. In the 20 years I’ve been playing this course has shown improvement, new carts and car paths , greens are looking really good , I can see they are redoing the tee boxes. I know they mentioned putting in an irrigation system so that’ll be nice to have to the fairways. Price is always good , the only take away from it all it’s no tee times, yes it’s nice to just go when ever but never fails when I get stuck behind 3 groups of 5 that all show up at the same time. Oh also club house needs HUGE renovations. The bathro…

Ebony is a decent, beginner-friendly course. It has 9-holes that are played twice. The only major hazards are the canal that runs through the course and adjacent road along hole #2. The fairways are subpar and very dry throughout. However, the greens have improved drastically over the past year. For $12 walking and $20 (maybe more now) with cart, it’s a cheap round, which is the primary reason I continue to play here. It’s also less desirable compared to Los Lagos, which means there are almost always favorable tee times available. All in all, worth it at this price.

Their website gives minimal information. I set up a tee time and drove from Harlingen to find out there is a car show on the course. The number provided no one answers. Horrible for business. I will definitely never try this course.
