In summary

Shary Municipal Golf Course receives mixed reviews, with some visitors appreciating the affordable prices and friendly staff, particularly for newcomers to the sport. However, many criticize the course for poor maintenance, slow pace of play, and management issues, including overbooking and lack of marshals to enforce etiquette. While recent improvements under new management have been noted, the course still faces challenges in providing a consistently positive golfing experience.

I am new to golf, and id like to share that Shary Golf course is amazing for anyone venturing into the sport. Prices are great for course, and range. Everytime ive gone its a pleasant experience. Employees are also polite, professional and easy to speak too. The course is not perfect but you cant beat for the price. If you're seeking a great time for a great price this is the place. This course just earned a new longterm customer.

By far the most poorly managed course I’ve ever attempted to play in South Texas. Right from hole 1, there were nine kids teeing off together with absolutely no etiquette. After waiting nearly 20 minutes for them to finish, I played the hole but had to skip 2–4 just to get ahead, as the same situation was happening throughout. I called the front desk to ask if there was a marshal on the course—they said yes, but during the next hour I never saw one. On hole 9, four teenagers literally walked in off the street and started gearing up to play. When I asked, they said it happens all the time beca…

Haven’t left a review in years but came out of retirement to address this POS course. Management is a joke; Course conditions abysmal. Our cart died in the middle of the round and we were told that it would be a while before anyone could come and help us because they were turning over the carts as they come in. Understandable if they were busy but it seemed like a normal day and the lack of urgency from the clubhouse is what set off this review. They clearly do not know how to run a golf course or care very much about customer service. The City of Mission should be offended. I’m embarrassed f…

I went there this morning (31st) ready to play some golf, hardly anyone there but yet the gentleman at the counter told me it was booked solid for the day. It looks like this employee wanted an easy day.

Terrible. Almost a 20 to 25 min wait time between holes. Very congested over priced for the quality. Will be playing at champions moving forward

Golf course is under a rebuilding process. New 9 hole construction in progress to open in future. The 18 hole side has been a disappointment for years. No course / grounds management experience and it showed. But in the past year under new management / experience and funding the golf course has improved. Can it be as nice as Champion Lakes?

Good course, could use a little work on the tee boxes, but not bad overall. Towards the end you had people fishing on the ponds, a lady on her bike on the cart path doing laps and a guy practicing his putting on hole 17, very unsafe and you have to stop because they are in the way, which causes delays. Lastly, there was a golfer using the ladies restroom when my wife walked in, not cool.

Course conditions were bad, tee boxes were okay, but the greens had craters with straight sand. Hole placements are confusing as you have to walk past other holes to get to the next. Play was very slow, we walked the course and still were behind people on carts. Overall bad experience

Good course with great staff. If you’re young, I recommend going on weekends. On weekdays, the course tends to be frequented by elderly players, who may scrutinize your every move and potentially disrupt your enjoyment. It's important for them to understand that young golfers have a right to the course too.

This is by far the worst golf course in the valley. Poorly kept greens and fairways. Kids everywhere past 3, skipping holes in front of me. Made me walk bc we don't rent carts past 5, then I still get skipped. No one tells me there's a tournament going on, so I get screamed at for trying to play golf, on the course I paid for. Needs better management and a better understanding of golf etiquette. I've been verbally harassed at this course 5 times, other 6 courses zero. Never going back.

Club house was nice. Fairways were very good. Greens were almost all dirt have to cross a major street. Not my first choice
