In summary

Falconhead Golf Club is praised for its challenging layout, scenic views, and well-maintained greens, making it a popular choice among golfers in the Austin area. However, some visitors have expressed dissatisfaction with the staff, particularly the marshals, citing issues with pace of play enforcement and customer service. Additionally, concerns about high fees and occasional communication lapses regarding course closures have been noted.

Great layout and views on this PGA Signature Golf gem!!! Tough par 4's to start your round but the par 5s are conquerable. Hit one more club on Number 8 because you don't want to add to the large collection of bills on Falconhead's Signature hole.

This course is in my top 3 for the greater Austin area. I golfed here for the first time in mid June after 2 months of hot, stormy weather. The course was in exquisite shape. We all were impressed with the lush green grass and beautiful trees literally everywhere. The course is challenging but fun. The elevation of the course gives you several views overlooking the hill country. We played twilight golf and had plenty of light out till 8:30 pm. We played 12 holes It was about 92° with a wonderful light breeze the entire time. The staff and other golfers were friendly. We golfed on a Tuesday eve…

Very disappointing experience. There were four marshals stationed at the first hole start like a SWAT team — it felt extremely uninviting from the start. Throughout the round, marshals approached us nearly every other hole about pace of play, despite the fact that we were ahead of pace the entire time. We finished 18 holes in 4.5 hours as a foursome, fully respecting the rules of golf and understanding the importance of pace. The group behind us remained more than a hole back for the entire round. Despite that, we felt constant pressure to speed up. It eventually got to the point where we po…

Played 18 hole round in Austin today and it’s all that and more. The pace of play is just over 4 hours and monitored by marshals. The greens were fast but rolled true evidenced by sinking some long putts. The course was plenty challenging and nicely maintained but it needs rain like the rest of the courses in Texas. Take advantage of the practice area for chipping, putting and warming up with your clubs before your round. Money spent is in proportion to the value received.

Very nice public course. I played in January, 1 week after a freeze, so all the fairways grass was dormant (brown). Not a big deal. The greens were very nicely kept, rolled true, and were pretty tricky to 1 putt. There are a few pretty creative holes on this course which challenge even the most seasoned golfers.

Course is very nice , fairways are wide open even though I never seemed to find one, and overall the facilities were pretty good. However, the staff, specifically the marshals and starters, were absolutely miserable. I wondered how such a nice course had such mediocre ratings. It became truly obvious when we had a marshal following us from hole to hole despite there being no groups behind us and us completing 18 well under 4.5 hours. They were all grumpy retiree types that I think would have their time better spent playing on their beautiful course instead of stalking the few customers they s…

I've played here for 2 decades and won't be back. The course is usually in decent shape, but still very overpriced. I've paid less for rounds in Las Vegas and Orlando for far superior courses. The corporatization of the pro shop and management is profits over all now. I just read some of the other reviews citing the same thing. It's 100% accurate. Customer comes last here. That bothers me and it's lost its luster. High fees, corporatized culture, marginally well maintained course at resort prices, and no regard for customer loyalty. Roy Kizer is half the price and usually just as well kept.

Really can’t understand the bad reviews. Course is great. Greens are fast. And staff is awesome. From front desk, to the marshall, and even the head golf pro Rocco- they were so kind and helpful. Will be telling everybody.

I was supposed to play a round with my brother in the morning only run into a unexpected circumstance where my brother's 14 month old baby was very sick in the morning and we drove to take him to urgent care and anxiously waited for the doctor. As such, we unfortunately had to cancel our tee time. Called them and explained the situation to them only to be given the standard response of "sorry but company policy, you will be charged in full" heard a lot of good things about this golf course but can see why it fails to reach 4 stars on google review. The people running it are tone deaf and I pe…

Signature Hole is a smelly swamp. My wife said where golf goes to die. Range cost 50 bucks for 2 large and more than half tees areas trashed and broken. Expensive course over sanded and not well kept. Very expensive for a 5 plus hour round on a Tuesday at 8 am.

Had a tee time scheduled for Jan 31. Upon arriving at the course, we found out the course was closed for the day. Understandable, they have to protect the course from damage. What is not understandable though is not notifying players of the closure. They claimed to have called and emailed everyone on the tee sheet, but my phone logs and email had zero communication from them. To polish the experience off, they also would not honor the November punches of our membership for our next round. I cannot recommend enough staying away from this course. I will be canceling my membership as soon as I…

Was pleasantly surprised when I played FalconHead. Had not played it in 4 years. Was cart path only. Finished in 4.5 hours when walking the course. Was a decent pace due to how long the course is and being cart path only. Had to wait a few holes but Marshall was out and said he was pushing a 4some a couple holes ahead to move faster which worked.
