What People Say

In summary

Frederick Golf Club is appreciated for its affordability and relaxed atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for beginners and those looking to practice their game without the pressure of a high-end course. The scenic views and friendly staff are often highlighted as positives, while some visitors point out that the course maintenance, particularly the greens and fairways, can be inconsistent. There are mixed opinions on the overall condition, with some finding it satisfactory for the price, while others feel it falls short compared to other courses in the area.

The views are priceless, the fairways and ruff are great. Mix of challenging to beginner holes, a few of the greens could use some work but for a, non pro golfer it was a great experience!

You can't beat it for $8 all you can walk. Some of the greens are rough but I'd much rather play here than go to a driving range.

I've been coming here for quite some time. It's a low maintenance, inexpensive golf course for beginners or groups who want a low-stress golf outing. I don't think they're trying to be fancy which is fine by me. Some greens are better than others, the fairways are okay, and the sand pits are... there basically are no sand pits.

Wasn't bad for the price. They don't have too many golf carts so you may not get one depending on when you get there. Bring lots of balls. Easy to lose even in the fairways but for the price to play a round you can't complain.

Do NOT waste your time and money here. The only 9 holes that are "open" are swampy mud pits swarming with mosquitos. We couldn't even finish playing the first 2 holes. Pack your waders and rain boots because they REFUSE to give a refund for a course that should not even be open. We shared our experience with multiple people in the parking lot who decided to turn around and leave to golf elsewhere. We went elsewhere and are having an enjoyable evening golfing on an actual golf course- not a swamp.

As others have said, its basically a mowed pasture. But greens are the best they've been now since I've been coming here ... but still not up to other public courses in the Balto-DC area. But it is a nice course to practice your drives and iron play. I enjoy it more than going to a driving range.

You will lose your ball in the fairway. I use range balls when I am there because unless you go on a day when they just cut the grass you will lose multiple well hit balls. That being said I go there very often and enjoy the place. Great place for people who suck and don't want to spend too much money on a good course.

this is a local, family run coarse that allows golfers of all levels to get a great round in for a fair price. if you are looking to get out to work on your game, not be pushed by some ranger on a time schedule and don't mind older carts with no tee times, FGC. is a great place. relax and enjoy the game and the company of your buddies

After a 50 year hiatus I started golfing again. FGC is the only course I play, due to location and cost. I always golf alone so as to avoid idle chit-chat. Since I started golfing there, the owners have really stepped up their mowing of the fairways, and the course is really starting to shape up. Additionally, the staff is quite friendly and helpful. This is a 'no frills' golf course. The dress code is casual (I wore combat boots until I was able to buy golf shoes), and there is no clubhouse to hang around in and swap lies. If you're looking for some relaxed golf, either by yourself, or with a…

The course has come a very long way! The greens are in great shape right now. There are several ponds and the course crosses a creek in several places. There are atleast 10 sand traps on the course to add some difficulty. It is affordable and accomadating. An outstanding deal!

September 15, 2014 I have been a very great customer of FGC for the past 4 months spending on average $25 per week. Today when I arrived after work (6pm) the clubhouse was locked and my friend and another gentlemen were not able to go inside and pay. This was a first for me. So we started our round unable to pay because no one was there. On the seventh hole one of the girl owners came over to us and asked to see our receipt. Obviously we had none and we explained that the clubhouse door was locked. She said that was not true and continue by saying that we have tried not paying other times bef…

For a first impression? Horrible!!! I know it's not going for a fancy look but, at least keep the course maintained. The fairways are okay but, the Tee boxes and greens are horrific! I'll never play this course again..
