What People Say

In summary

Fruitport Country Club is appreciated for its friendly and accommodating staff, and its short, easy layout that some find enjoyable, particularly for casual play or social gatherings. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's maintenance, citing poor conditions of the greens, fairways, and tee boxes, which detract from the overall golfing experience. Additionally, some find the pricing to be high given the current state of the course.

This course has great potential. When I went the course was not well kept, could use some work. With that said...the staff were extremely polite, friendly as well as accommodating. Because it is farther away from my house and I went here because it is close to a family members house...I most likely wont play here much. If I do play here again it would be because of the course its self....but the workers. Friendly staff can be a huge check mark in my book.

I honestly don’t understand how they get away with charging $30 for a round. Zero maintenance done to any part of the course. Tee boxes are awful, fairways are too long, rough is incredibly uneven. As for the greens...it’s like putting on a giant cheese grater! It really is shameful. Truly difficult to enjoy the game. I recommend closing down for the remainder of the year to totally update the grounds. That’s the only way I’d ever consider coming back in the future. If only zero stars was an option...

There was no part of the course that was even close to satisfactory. You could at least justify the poor conditions if priced accordingly but $30 on a Tuesday afternoon is unacceptable. You are not able to put on the greens with out it bouncing due the entire green being uneven patches of grass. Fairways were the length of your average rough which could have been looked past without the other contains. The tee boxes were patches of crabgrass and dirt that was not from normal play. This course is not the “quality public golf experience for an exceptional value” that they advertise and would tho…

First off, all employees and other players were super kind and courteous. Several groups let me play through which was appreciated. I'm a fast player and it only took me 2 hours to play all 18 at Fruitport. The reason for my 2 star rating is to give a heads up to other folks that consider themselves golfers. This is a HACKERS course. I am okay with this but the other reviewers do not indicate that of this course. There are more folks wearing basketball shorts and football jerseys than golf attire. To go with that, unfortunately, the course itself suffers too. Fairways are in bad shape. Greens…

We enjoy playing here. The coarse needs some work. The greens got a little burned last summer. 18 holes, but they are trying to sell the front 9 holes for commercial development.

Hosted my wedding reception here and no one told us the air conditioning wasn’t working though they knew prior. It was 88 degrees inside the building, they tried to help by bringing out fans but that was only after My grandmother had a heat stroke and was taken away in an emergency vehicle.

Great staff but the course is only a shadow of its former self. Sad really. I loved playing there. It appears the owners don't care anymore about the course and are waiting to sell.

We are very happy we chose this venue for our daughter's outdoor wedding ceremony and reception! Robin and her mother were very attentive and easy to work with - thus everything ran smoothly! Thank you!

I've played golf all over West Michigan. I would be willing to bet this course is in the worst shape of any course in Michigan! Do not waste the trip or the money!
