In summary

Gainesville Municipal Golf Club is appreciated for its affordability and beginner-friendly layout, with wide fairways and a straightforward design. Many visitors note that the course is in better condition than expected for a municipal course, although some greens and cart paths could use improvement. While the staff is generally seen as friendly, there have been occasional reports of rude behavior from specific employees, which has impacted some players' experiences.

Track is wide open and you can really work on your game here without spending a lot of money on green fees. Greens are soft and slow but in good shape except for 10. You can tell there starting to maintain course better. Wish the city would invest a little more funds because in my opinion it could really be a good track more golfers would play and enjoy.

Have I played worse courses? Yes. Was this one of the best? No. I picked up a hot deal tee time on Wednesday for a Sunday morning 10a tee time for $25 per player. If I would have waited until the day of it would have been $15. The course and round was worth about $15. Check in was good. Pace of play was okay. It wasn't to busy overall. Course was dormant and the greens weren't the best. My buddy and I look at it as an experience. We try to play new courses. I would not recommend coming unless you are close like us traveling to Winstar. If you can find some cheap tee times, stop in. If you are…

The course is better shape than has been in a long time. I've been playing this course for at least 20yrs. But there is a young man that works there that is quite rude. Seems like he hates life. We brought the carts back at 5:38 & he told me I need to find another golf course. That guy going to have a lot of revenue ran off.

We haven't played Gainesville in years so our group decided to give it a try. We were fairly impressed from the check in until the end of the round. The greens were nice and soft, fairways were still in good shape and staff was good. I first played the course over 40 years ago, so it has nostalgia and memories. The course was fairly busy but only took 4 hrs for our foursome to play. If you're in the area I would recommend a round.

Absolutely astounded how we were treated golfing with our family and kids. We had 2 tee times 10 minutes apart, which i know you aren’t to tee off at the same time but we had no one behind us and had the kids. They little “security” guy came and not so nicely told us to split up so we did for a hole and the kids were struggling and no one was behind us so we started playing back together. At that point the “security guy” came and told us that if we didn’t split up that he would call the sheriff! We tried to explain to him that we had the kids and if we had someone behind us we would understand…

I’ve played this course a few times and always enjoyed myself, despite the oft-mentioned cart paths in disrepair and several sub-par greens. The course is very beginner-friendly and easy to shoot, the fairways are wide, and the layout isn’t too challenging. Unfortunately, my most recent trip saw a fairly substantial jump in green fees — $40/player! As much as I enjoy shooting this course, the overall condition of it doesn’t justify a $40 green fee. I really hope they consider either lowering the price to something more fitting/reasonable, or making improvements to the course to justify this ne…

I have played this course multiple times. Enjoyed it in the past even if it isn't the nicest of courses. Brought a couple buddies to play here for the first time. Had a fun round until we got to the last hole. I guess the late shift marshal started his shift and decided to be extremely rude to the customers. Morning marshal had no issues with us all day and we saw him multiple times. We were putting and the marshal comes out to yell at us for parking by the green. By the green I mean a good 10-15 yards off the green behind the hole where there is no part of a course or a hole. He hypocriticall…

Greens are long and some patchy areas. fairways were dry most the time. Cart paths are rough too but its a fun course for the price. Played many times since its so close to home.

Great for a $30 muni. Pace of play is good on weekdays in the afternoon. A fun track. Conditions are what to expect with the price but they are doing a good job

This was a terrible experience overall. The employee who was a young man was very rude for no reason when trying to see if we could play. We came around early 4 and was told the golf course closed at 4:30 when ONLINE IT SAYS 6:00. Keep in mind we tried calling and no one picked up. Still very upset about the rudeness from the young man who became sarcastic with me. I do not plan to come back to this course. I am not surprised it had 3.5 stars and reading reviews saying employees were also very harsh.

Don't let your initial impression fool you. I've played in a number of states and in the UK. This course is much better than I thought it would be when I drove up to it the first time. It is plenty long, and the layout is better than most fancier courses I've played. There are holes that reward the ability to fade the ball, there are holes that reward the ability to draw the ball, and there are one or two holes that reward you if you want to challenge the trees and hit over them. Most of the greens are relatively small and elevated. The lies are tight and the ground is firm, so you won't get a…

Overall the course is great. Some greens are pretty rough and patchy, but it's Texas so there's only so much you can do. They've been doing some updates, but the cart paths are pretty rough in a few places. Played quite a bit here compared to other places and for the money it's a pretty solid option.
