In summary
Gateway Golf Club offers a unique experience with its location straddling the Wisconsin and Michigan border, providing a scenic setting with beautiful natural surroundings. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff and reasonable pricing, making it a pleasant spot for a casual round of golf. However, the course receives criticism for its maintenance, with reports of unkempt fairways, lack of signage, and inconsistent greens, which may not appeal to those seeking a more polished golfing experience.

It is what it is - You get what you pay for - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Because of my career I have been fortunate enough to have been on many/most of the Golf Digest top 100 courses... this is not that ;) Gateway is an inexpensive, humble course that appears to have 2 employees and a lot of hand me down equipment. I have played there about 10 times, I find the owner straight forward and accommodating and he prefers cash... This is classic Northwoods golf - yes there are some brown spots in the fairways - so what - if you don't like your lie move your ball over a couple of feet, th…

Worst course I’ve played and is bad quality and after that bad service! Greens looked like fairways. He followed us around the course. Never coming back. Not to mention I payed $100 for me and 3 people not even a cart included

Dandelions on the greens. $35 for 9 holes & a cart. No signs on Tee Boxes. Slowest greens I’ve ever played.

The course was ok but needs some work. Owner/staff seemed were nice and clubhouse was just small. Layout is pretty good and unique to be right on WI and MI border. Greens were mostly in pretty shape which is what a lot of courses struggle with in these north woods; greens are a focus of mine. Fairways had some spots spots needing addressing and some sand traps cleaned up but looks like a work in progress. No signs on any tee box; all were removed. This is a pretty small town area. This could be a pretty good course to play with some things addressed.

Love gateway hotel, really awesome place, but the course is a different story. I golfed all 9 holes and not once did I see a fairway, the entire course is all rough. The greens are dried and about the length of the fringe. Not to mention on some holes there isn’t a fringe it goes from green strait to rough. Non of the bunkers were raked. Course layout is probably the only thing good about it. They really need more staff and maintenance throughout the corse. Could be a really cool place to golf with the right help.

The most dilapidated golf course I've ever played. There are no signs on the holes, the fairways are a smattering of grass scattered throughout hardpan, and the rental equipment is ancient. It feels like you're playing an old, abandoned golf course, but the price is comparable to the other, much nicer courses in the area. I'd recommend you go to one of them instead.

When you are in Northern Wisconsin with your family and want to golf - Gateway is a great place to play. The holes are beautiful surrounded by majestic trees and beautiful wildlife and foliage. Take your time and walk and look at the scenery I’m sure you will enjoy yourself. Soak it in you will not get this kind of feel in a big city. You are next to nature and should be overjoyed if you are lucky enough to make it up North to play a round. The staff is very friendly and it is one of my favorite places to get away and enjoy your self. They make great drinks too.

We have played at this golf course two years in a row and on both occasions the owner has been extremely rude. The course itself is in very poor condition, fairways all have giant dead patches of grass. Having said that, our expectations are not that high when it comes to a quality course, but if you're not going to maintain your course and charge 30 dollars for a nine hole you should be kind to your customers. Next year we will be looking to play golf elsewhere and I highly advise anybody reading this do the same.

The course has a brown fairway don't be fooled by the picture on their website. The owner was very rude to us telling us to play faster when the people in front of us were playing slow causing a backup. The only thing great about this course was the prices were very reasonable for a 9 hole golf course.

Don’t listen to this Evan guy, it’s not bad. Obviously this isn’t Whislting Straights, but it’s a nice course up here run by a friendly gentleman and is priced fairly. Solid course with great service and great drinks. It’s a great place to spend a couple hours playing 9 holes, relaxing, and grabbing a good drink. Been playing here for years in the summer and we always have a good time!

Well . We can't honestly give a good review. Counter lady was nice. Course wasn't marked at all. Course was rough. Not taken care of. Had potential if it had some care. Heard shots from nearby range which is distracting . Airport runway was weird also. Just can't recommend this course given so many good courses in the area. Sorry

Groomed and pristine? No, but very enjoyable for passing an afternoon with friends. If you want serious greens and can't deal with course imperfections this place is not for you. If you can enjoy just playing the game on a mediocre course with up North feel then have at it. Support this course to keep it around.
