In summary

The Golf Club of Illinois is praised for its well-maintained course, friendly and accommodating staff, and enjoyable layout with challenging elements like bunkers and hills. Many visitors appreciate the reasonable pricing and good amenities, including a nice banquet hall and event space. However, some guests have experienced issues with water drainage, slow pace of play, and outdated facilities, with a few isolated incidents of poor customer service.

Very decent course. Went on a Sunday afternoon in October had one of the best golf game. Greens were little tough but overall great experience

Played here on Monday morning this past week with my nephew and first time I've ever played with him he's awesome he's on the high school golf team... (Excuse the programmer I'm using the phone microphone button transposing my voice to text)...Everyone was friendly but my spacey self left my rangefinder on the cart (magnet attached to metal roof support).... Anyway make a long story short I was at the range last night realized my mistake and was just sort of down it was a present I got from my parents for Christmas and as a good golfer I was like the last holdout to ever get a rangefinder and…

Beautiful course, huge, well maintained greens, nice fairways, fantastic staff, my small group of ladies, were welcomed from the staff in the pro shop to the ranger. We all were impressed with our golf experience, and are looking forward to returning!

Paid $55 for 18 holes w/cart on Saturday 7/19/25 and course was an absolute mess. Drains not working and course management was pretty poor. Website posted 90 degree carts with path only but my group got yelled at for driving on fairway. All other players were driving up and down the course. Got to hole 10 and was backed up 2-3 groups. Pace was poor during first 9 but the back 9 pace was simply unplayable. No reason 18 holes should take 5+ hours, so we ended up leaving. Carts are also prehistoric and need to be upgraded.. no usb ports? Really?

Very nice conditions for quite a reasonable rate. Not super difficult but lots of well placed bunkers that demand accurate tee shots and approaches. The layout was very enjoyable to navigate and would definitely play here again.

This is my son’s favorite club and now I know why! We were mis-informed online when we checked to see if the club accepted Apple Pay, so when my son arrived for his tee time and learned that they do not, he only had enough cash to play 9 holes. Of course, he was disappointed, so I called to ask if I could pay for him to finish the back 9 with a credit card and they could not have been more accommodating and wonderful, even comping the back 9!! That’s fantastic customer service and was so appreciated!!

Honestly, the Golf Club of Illinois is such a good spot. The course is fun but tough in a good way — lots of cool hills, tall grass, and tricky bunkers to keep you on your toes. It’s in great shape too. They’ve got a big driving range and a putting green if you wanna warm up before you play. Super chill vibe overall — not stuffy at all. Also, if you ever need a place for a party or wedding, their event space is really nice and the staff is super easy to work with. Definitely one of my favorite places to golf around Algonquin!

Overall, the course was in good shape. The only things letting it down were the tee boxes and bunkers. They appeared to be resodding portions of the tee boxes but it was partial and rather haphazardly done. Some bunkers were fine while a couple were basically dust over clay. Greens and fairways were in pretty good shape although not as lightning fast as I’ve experienced there in the past. Generally, a nice course at a good price. Definitely recommend.

Well the beer was cold And the cart girl beautiful! On the golf, enjoyed the round except for the other golfers. Played as a single and not one offered to let me play through or join them. Just drove around the jerks. Never been to a course where everyone was like this. Greens are fast, will be back

Greens are needlessly difficult, both breaks and elevation changes and dry and very fast. Also, really needed a ranger out there to enforce proper pace of play. Landscapers were driving over and around greens twice while hitting around the greens. Parking lot needs a lot of work too. Apart from that, the course is peaceful and the carts are quick.
