Great Bear Golf Club is an outstanding golf course. The setting is truly beautiful. Great Bear feels like a classic course in a peaceful, natural environment. The design is smart and inviting. The layout flows naturally, with a good variety of holes that test different parts of your game without feeling overly punishing. There are strategic challenges to think through, but also plenty of fun scoring opportunities if you manage your shots well. It’s a course that’s enjoyable for golfers of many skill levels. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional throughout my visit. From check-…

Fantastic course, always in good shape. All of the par 3s are excellent (the best collection in the Water Gap area). No "weird" holes (like several local courses), and although it is wooded, most fairway are wide enough that it's not a problem. I'm not a fan of courses that wander through estate home communities, but many of the holes here still feel isolated. Greens are in beautiful condition. My favorite course in the Water Gap area. Prices are very reasonable given the quality of the course (I believe the price has been reduced this year). Choose your tee time wisely and you can usually g…

Fun course. Really enjoyed the layout. Fun. And challenging. Well taken care of. Greens were quick. Definitely can't wait to go back

Great Bear is the best experience for Pocono Golf. I've played them all, and the only thing missing is a unique, memorable hole. I'll admit that I'm a sucker for crossing water so the island at Hideaway Hills or crossing the Delaware at Shawnee stand out in the area, but the Par 3s (2,7, 16) are amazing without a memorable feature, and the lead into the clubhouse on 18 feels majestic. The grounds are immaculate, regardless of when playing, in the spring, summer, and fall, greens are well manicured, fairways are spectacular, and the tee boxes are neat. The bunkers are also kept nice, however,…

Our group of 7 had a great time making Great Bear our home base for the weekend. The staff was wonderful and helped make two full days of golf a fantastic experience for our group. The course and greens were in great shape and the pace of place was accommodating. We’ll be back next Fall!

The course was okay, and the greens were mid. Denise on the other hand was extremely rude screaming at us to leave when it was our last hole. Not even giving us the reason why we had to leave. Didn't have to scream at us like that for whatever reason it was. After we heard her we were leaving, our parents are 70+ of age and she chases us to leave faster. "GO" "GET OUT NOW" "YOU GUYS NEED TO LEAVE NOW." Ruins a whole trip just because of one person. Thanks Denise.

The course name is very misleading. There is nothing “GREAT” about this course, the name should be simply Bear. Poorly managed and poorly maintained. Examples: We had a 8:15 Tee time, the course was backed up on each hole from #1 on we had a delay. The ranger on the 6th hole came to us to tell us to speed up play and we reminded him we waited on every hole for the group in front of us. The group behind us said he came up to them and told them to hurry up as well. On the back nine an angry old man, I believe he checked us in at the pro shop earlier, rode up on a cart and yelled at us. He said “…

The golf course is outstanding! The routing winds over and through the hills. Wide fairways are forgiving but need to allow for slope of the landing areas (most of the Par 5's especially) and shape of the hole. Greens are signature Jack, playing much shallower which makes them play smaller on shots into them. Overall course conditions are excellent, especially given the expansive size of the overall course. Multiple sets of tees create multiple sets of challenges and vary the lines of play off the tee, which is a great design feature. Quality Par 3's and a finishing hole to remember..... Not s…

One of the worst golf experiences I’ve had in quite some time. The course was in poor condition, and the round dragged on for nearly 6 hours. At the turn, I even called the pro shop to ask if a ranger would be sent out to address the slow play. The result was a ranger who was completely ineffective, rather than taking any action with the large group holding up the entire course, he simply repeated, “it should pick up.” It never did. Considering how expensive the greens fees are, the value here is terrible. For that price, you’d expect a course in better shape and staff who either take pace of…

Awesome course . I love the target style golf that one has to play here. It's not a grip it and rip it course , so skill is necessary. The course was also in great shape. Highly recommend and I will be returning in the fall

Went yesterday and today! (Oct 10,11, 2023) Beautiful course on a beautiful day(s) Really well maintained, the fairways had no leaves on them, as the have blown most of the leaves into the rough. The greens could use a little more TLC, but overall they rolled true. Even though the greens weren't perfect, I still am giving the experience 5 stars. It's been a wet summer and the bunkers were the best I've played in all year - playable, but not perfect. The staff (Vince and Kenny) treated us like VIPs. If you're within an hour of the course, it's worth the drive.
