In summary

Hilltop Golf Course is appreciated for its challenging layout with hilly terrain and narrow fairways, which some find rewarding and others consider difficult. The staff is generally friendly and helpful, contributing to a positive experience for many visitors. However, there are recurring concerns about the pace of play, course maintenance, and interactions with staff, particularly regarding cart policies and communication during events.

I went here on a work outing, there were like 60 of us, they had the carts all ready to go and rentals for the newbies. They had us all tee off from the same place for scramble style so it was like an hour and a half from the first groups tee off to the last so be weary if planning a large outing. But the grounds seemed good, well maintained. I’m not really a golfer but I enjoyed my time there.

Don't stay open for fall golf if you dont attempt to control the leaves. Over half the holes had literal piles of leaves in the fairway and every green was covered. I get they blow during the morning maintenence but it looked as though theu blew them into piles and left. If you enjoy fall golf- go somewhere else

If you are under the age of 50 do yourself a favor and don’t play this course! Our group consisted of people in our late 20s-30s and we were followed around by the marshals like we were children. The second we got there they were inspecting our cart (shocker we had nothing) then they proceeded to follow us around the course, tell us we needed to add additional strokes (we weren’t keeping score like that cause we just wanted to have a fun day) and yell at us all throughout game play! FYI: Michigan has the most public courses in the US… do yourself a favor and go play a different course.

terrible experience me and a friend came to golf for fun but the second we walk in one of the workers yells on top of his lungs to ask if we are taking carts or pull carts and we tell him we’re taking carts. He starts to get really angry and asks to see a drivers license. We inform him we have photos but not on us at the moment, which he appears to dislike what we said, and yells saying we can’t take carts without a license in person. I understand you guys may need to see a in person license, but yelling at minors who did nothing wrong? So we had our tee time booked online with carts. They wou…

Classic old golf course that can't be taken for granted. We played this course as kids in the 70's. It was a test then with tough greens and lots of slope. A hot putter and deft touch are needed here. Hope routing is tight as fairways are narrow and elevation comes into play. The course has matured over the years and trees have grown so it's not as easy as the early days. We enjoyed the day with great staff and lots o memories. Glad we gave the course another round.

booked a teatime online for nine holes pretty pricey for the course. Walked in And went to check in rude man who looked like he peaked in high school with a Titleist visor on Screamed across the clubhouse how old are you? I replied 16. He then said let me see your license. LI offered to show him a picture while I was talking he interrupted and said I don’t wanna see that and he got aggressive and said I don’t if you don’t have a license you’re not playing and it was very rude about it. Startled because I just got verbally harassed after paying 35 dollars for 9 holes of mediocre golf just to ge…

Played the course a few days ago it was one of the 4 I played over the weekend, I really enjoyed this course I did end up going at twilight hours for the cheaper rate and it was also the nice a peace fire till about the 18th hole, only issue I see with the course is if you hit long and far you have a chance of getting close to people and not knowing it. I drove 300 over a hill into a party of 6 which is definitely weird for a party of 6 to be allowed but if the got 3 straight tee times to set them apart then good on them, I just happen to hit close to them and as I drove up and saw them i apol…

Tee time was for 10:48, at that time we still had 2 teams that had to tee off. Had to keep waiting at every hole and just made it super long. Greens were nice.

Garbage course. Horrible conditions. Seems like no one fixes their ball marks on the green. Waiting 10/15 minutes on every tee. Paid for 18 holes took 3 hours to play 9 so we just left. Some other golfers were just being obnoxious also. Would not recommend this course.

Very hilly and rolling. No flat lies. Tight tree lined Fairways. Manage the course is a must. Tricky, sloped fast greens. A challenge all around. Played white tees and was happy to be in the 90s. Would not recommend for beginners or someone who can't hit reasonably straight. Quite a few tough pin placements.

I had a wonderful time. The staff was awesome. Even though they had a large group finishing up they took the time to give me a couple of pointers. Everyone was so friendly there. I lost track of time talking to my boss about some things at work and we were the last ones of the course unfortunately. They were so nice about it. They are the kind of people you meet and think I want to be more like them. The course was challenging and the setting was beautiful. The whole experience was so relaxing. The carts were well maintained and it was one of the most enjoyable times I have ever had golfing. B…

The round took 6 and a half hours. The course was in poor shape. Ball marks on every green not repaired. Divots in every fairway unfilled. This was brought to the staff's attention. They said, "oh yea, that happens." We said we wouldn't return with such slow play. The staff said they didn't care their parking lot was full of cars. Probably because everyone was still there trying to get their 6-7 hour round done. One star is too many
