What People Say

In summary

Homewood Municipal Golf Course is frequently praised for its well-maintained 9-hole layout, friendly and helpful staff, and the pleasant setting that includes local wildlife. The course is considered beginner-friendly and a good value, with amenities like a new clubhouse and affordable golf cart rentals enhancing the experience. Some visitors have noted issues with cart availability and occasional staff unprofessionalism, though these do not appear to be widespread concerns.

I'm new to golf so 9 holes is plenty to keep me busy. You'd be losing your mind if you had to wait for me to do 18! I didn't play this time. I just watched the guys. It was a fun course, somewhat challenging--especially at the end when you have to skip over the creek. The golf carts aren't expensive to rent. And, the staff is pretty relaxed here so all of the interactions were pleasant. It's a well-kept space and I'd definitely come back to work on my game (though, I don't have any 🤷🏻‍♀️). The ball-washing and water stations are pretty nice throughout!

My significant other and I golfed at Homewood today. The course itself was beautiful, and we would've had a great time. When purchasing our tee time and getting a golf cart, my significant other asked to buy an alcoholic beverage. The person at the front, an older man, carded him and asked me to show him my ID. I showed him and replied that I was underage, and he said he did not feel comfortable serving us. We completely understood and respected that decision. He then asked if we would like something else to drink, but I did not wish for anything and declined. He sneered at me and replied, "Aw…

This course has enormous sentimental value to me. I learned how to golf on these 9 holes, this is why this course is fun. Please take out your kids to learn here. It’s an easy walk, not long, yet it can still provide a challenge. I continue to come back especially if I’m working on things or I only want to take 3 clubs with me. Only reason it is not 5stars is due to the price. It is on the higher side of golf. Please take this into consideration, I think they rather see people pay for passes then just random times.

For as heavily as it is played, the course was in good shape for the price. Greens were holding and fairways were good. Staff was very friendly, helpful and fast.

Our family rented out the clubhouse to host a baptism celebration- I would highly recommend it! The staff (Nate) was professional and excellent to work with, the facilities were new and clean, and it was affordably priced. Thanks Nate and the City of Ames!

We reserved one of the meeting rooms for a family gathering. It was lovely! The new clubhouse is really beautiful and accessible, but the parking was a ways off.

I was very disappointed when we arrived for our tee time at 3:20 pm and no carts were allowed after Ames received 1 inch of rain the night before, and hasn't received more than an inch the whole month of August!!! I can understand maybe in the morning, but we are in a drought!!! And there was NO Standing water on the course!! Ridiculous!! Rethinking my membership!!!

I am a beginner at golf and over 55. Homewood offers a nice 9 hole course. It offers enough of a challenge for me. I'm sure it will allow me to improve my game.

My favorite place to golf in Ames (and probably the easiest course). I also love all of the wildlife that pop out to say hello (deer, fox, various birds, rabbits, squirrels)

Nice 9 hole course in Ames. Not very difficult, and driver can stay in the bag for most holes, but this is my go to course in Ames for a quick, cost friendly, and fun round.

This is a nice City course. I am anxious to see what the new clubhouse will look like. Hopefully they will be able to invest in a few more carts. They frequently are not available.
