In summary

Veenker Memorial Golf Course is frequently praised for its well-maintained fairways and challenging layout, featuring unique elevation changes and scenic views. The staff is often commended for their helpfulness and organization, particularly during events. However, some visitors have noted issues with the clubhouse facilities, slow pace of play, and occasional course maintenance concerns, which can detract from the overall experience.

Visiting from out of town and it was my first time playing this course. I had an amazing round. Yes, the clubhouse is a bit basic, but the course is in great shape and the staff are great. The course has an interesting layout and a surprising amount of elevation for a course in Iowa. My favorite part was that they gave out a hole by hole guide that walked through each hole and how to play it. Such a nice touch, especially since I'd never played it before. I would play here again.

Place is not nice, course is decent but clubhouse is plain awful. The other buildings and structures look like they are about to fall down. Hard to believe this place is the home course for a power 5 university that is known for Agriculture…. The course layout is good and scenic but there were unkept parts around the course. Their are basically no bathrooms and the food was horrible.

I've read some of the reviews and yeah the clubhouse isn't the greatest clubhouse there ever was but it's enough let me tell you something this is a golf course from t to Green immaculate and the greens are firm fast and very undulating if you're above the hole or on the wrong side you've got absolutely no chance forget about it whatever they got going on out there doing it right keep up the good work fellas I'll see you again!

Very unique course. Played in their one man scramble event last weekend and it was very organized and the staff was great. The course was super challenging and definitely felt like tournament conditions. Keep it in the fairway and you'll be just fine.

Always an excellent place to tee it up since the golf course remains in excellent shape. Love the fast greens and the course layout as well

Awful greens, upkeep on this course is laughably bad. I would avoid this course at all costs. I repeat this might be the worst course in Iowa and by far the worst course I've ever played. It's very sad. If I could give 0 stars I would. Do not play this course.

Great course. Not long but need to play smart. Driver not needed on every hole.

Good course, and staff. Other golfers is a different story. Rude golfers not waiting for others to clear the green, and waiting until the 17th hole to have a manager come try to speed us up, and then to have my payment questioned is outrageous. They did not ask to go head of us, and they were extremely impolite. Pretty disappointed with the integrity of those who play here.

Even though I live in Kansas, I have golfed at Veenker a few times. It has always been a pleasant experience. Until last Thursday. I was in a group of three golfers (senior citizens) playing a scramble. On the front nine, we had several occasions where there was slow play ahead of us. After years of golf, we know this is not unusual. We waited patiently. At one point, one in the group needed to take pain medication, so we stopped to allow the meds to take effect. During that time, we let everyone play through. We did not slow up the pace, even though our playing time was longer. We had lunch a…

Target golf, some tight spots but very nice layout, greens are fast and roll true.

I've always liked playing here, but pace of play has gotten out of hand. Unplayable during peak hours. The last 2 times I've played it has taken 5.5 hours to complete 18. I'm all about growing the game of golf, but need to respect proper pace and make groups move up or skip holes when they are taking so long.
