In summary

Kaanapali Golf Courses are praised for their beautiful scenery, well-maintained courses, and friendly staff, providing a picturesque and enjoyable golfing experience. Many appreciate the challenging layout and the helpful amenities like GPS-equipped carts and a well-stocked pro shop. However, some visitors have expressed concerns about the pace of play, occasional lack of communication from staff, and the condition of certain facilities, such as outdated driving ranges and limited restroom availability.

I had a playing lesson with Jon Tempest today. I am new to this game and Jon did a fantastic job breaking down my mechanics by giving great visual cues. Jon in my opinion is the best pro teacher I have had since starting. I highly recommend him. Thanks Jon! I also had an opportunity to play the Royal course Friday Oct. 3. Check in at the clubhouse was smooth. The front desk employee was friendly. She gave me a small bucket to warm up with. Check in at the course was also smooth. I received my cart assignment. I love that the carts have a small iced cooler for your drinks and a screen overview…

Beautiful golf course! It was in perfect conditions when I played earlier this month. Well worth the price. Everyone was very friendly. Carts were clean. Gorgeous views from every hole. We couldn't stop taking pictures. Would highly recommend if staying on the west side of Maui. FYI they do not sell alcohol on the golf course you must buy all bear in restaurant before going out on the course.

Be prepared- If you need to rent clubs, know that they do not rent shoes or give you any balls. I have never been to a place that doesnt offer that, especially at the rate they charge. The range was not great either. Only about 6 mats or so. There are some decent views from the Royal course. Nice restaurant up stairs. We did get to check it off our ‘big break’ list though.

The course was a great layout, however wasn’t aware they aerated the greens. Was charged full price $165 the fairways where not in great conditions. Friends was told that the greens were aerated after we all paid. In addition, it was upset flying from a different island and not being aware of the course conditions before paying. Even The website doesn’t say that the course was getting worked on. Plus when booking with the course the day of they didn’t specify the course conditions. Definitely was told the course was the best on the island but my group was upset the whole time.

Got the opportunity to play the Royal and the Kai on back to back days. Views are spectacular. Are you ON the water for every shot, no. However, you can see the water on a variety of holes on both courses. They Royal is in better shape for sure and the price tag reflects it. That said, both are well worth the value. Can’t wait to come back with our own clubs.

While playing, the ignorant couple continue to walk ahead from Royal Course #1 to 4. Even if I shout "Ball~~!!", they ignore it and walk forward. They kept crossing into the middle of the fairway. I couldnt play and had to wait every play until they were GONE! Restraint/Marshall is needed in some midpoints . Be educated adults, poor couple.

The 18 hole Kaanapali Kai golf course is a very beautiful and yet challenging course. The driving range is very adequate to warm up before your round. The pro shop has everything you need. The staff is very helpful and will make sure you have an enjoyable round. If you’re looking for some breathtaking views of the West Maui mountains, and also to see the city of Kaanapali. This is your course. Not a bad hole on any part of it.

Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course isn't the best course in Hawaii or even Maui, but it is still really enjoyable with tight fairways and small greens. The course was in really good condition with really great views on the upper 7 holes. Overall, it is worth playing.

Played Kaanapali Royal twice this trip. Course was in good condition much better views available on many other courses. Pace of play both rounds over 5 hours and not addressed either round. Played in afternoon to take advantage of lower rates. They charge $5 for practice balls in afternoon which I find insulting when paying $200 for a round of golf. They no longer offer discounts for guest of Kaanapali Resorts. Poor communication from starter as to when you’re about to play. I’ve been coming to Maui over 15 years always playing a couple rounds at Kaanapali courses. I can say that I plan on com…

Played today with my wife. The starter advised the greens were playing fast… nope… they were sanded and played very slow. The GPS on the carts are off by 15-20 yards at times. The grass is Bermuda, if you’re not used to it, just know it loves to stop your club. Some of the flag placements were as if the green staff were frustrated that day😂😂 still shot an 81. 13.3 handicap OVERALL: I was golfing in Maui, with the love of my life. I couldn’t ask for anything better. The views were spectacular and the cost is exactly what you would expect for golfing on the island. Thank you to all the staff tha…

Lovely golf course with outstanding picturesque views. It's a fairly easy course (but is any golf course easy?) with wide open fairways. The staff was super hospitable. We played on a Wednesday afternoon in May and it seemed like we had the course to ourselves. Love this place!

Very underwhelming. Course was in decent condition and the views were good. Staff was not too friendly and as first time visitors to this course there was little to no instruction on what the process was. No shop to purchase food or drinks before 11. Was advised that there was a beverage cart on the course but did not see it until the 12th hole and when the beverage cart finally showed up the lady working was very rude. I've had better service paying $60 green fees to be honest. Range was 6 mats and very outdated. Definitely the worst experience on a golf course I have had in a long time. Save…
