In summary

Kalona Golf Club is frequently praised for its well-maintained greens, picturesque setting, and challenging layout that includes tight fairways and rolling hills. The staff receives high marks for their friendliness and helpfulness, contributing to a positive overall experience. However, some visitors have noted issues with fairway conditions and pricing, and a few have mentioned less favorable interactions with the owner. Despite these concerns, the course is generally regarded as a top choice among 9-hole courses in the area.

Easily one of the best 9 hole courses I’ve played. Great service in the clubhouse, awesome picturesque holes, challenging shot making decisions, not super long but need to be accurate. Greens roll really nice and are consistent better than a lot of 18 hole courses in Iowa City Area. Worth the trip out and can’t wait to come back.

Two time Iowa 9 hole course of the year for good reason. Not the longest course you will play, but the course will challenge you with tight fairways and hills that will rarely give you a flat lie. Many holes offer risk and reward. Hit fairways, with a solid wedge and putter, then you will score well. If not, this course will test your short game repeatedly. Greens have character and roll as well, if not better, than the higher end 18 hole courses in the area. Iowa is one of the tops in the nation for 9 hole golf courses in the usa and this is one of the best i have played.

This is a gorgeous course from the rolling hills to the well maintained pine trees to the quick greens! It is a course that I look forward ton playing in the future! The clubhouse had some amazing brats, a viriety of snaks, and wide variety of drinks for the non drinkers and drinkers alike.

Great layout, there are a couple holes that are truly a joy to look at. The course only receives 3 stars due to the conditions of the fairway. I’m not sure if recent weather played into factor but the fairway was the tallest grass I’ve ever seen for being a fairway. Besides that, the course will provide great fun and is a nice overall experience.

This course is excellent! Challenging and fun to play, with water but no sand. The staff are friendly. The summer golf camp for kids is also a great opportunity for young people to learn about the sport and have a lot of fun.

The course is gorgeous and if you don’t have to deal with the owner than I’m sure you’ll have a great time. The guy definitely likes people to know he’s in charge and was very disrespectful in how he spoke to us. The rest of the staff is great though!

Surprisingly difficult, long course!

Fairways are like rough, greens unfair, narrow course. $74.50 for two cans of beer, one gatorade, one hot dog, and two greens fees including cart for 9 holes on a Saturday @ 3:30pm. That is absurd.
