In summary

Lake Forest Yacht & Country Club is appreciated for its challenging and enjoyable course layout, with several reviewers noting the fairways and greens are generally in good condition, despite some areas needing improvement. The staff is often described as friendly and courteous, contributing positively to the overall experience. However, some visitors have reported issues with course maintenance, such as sandy greens and uneven fairways, as well as inconsistent customer service and outdated facilities.

Cheap green fees. For being crowded the pace of play was acceptable. They had added in sand into the greens which made it somewhat difficult to putt. But friendly staff

Played Lake Forest for the first time today with our MGA. Layout is great, challenging but fair from the tips. Greens were in good condition except for a few areas (to be expected) and, while not super fast, they were consistent. Beverage lady on the course was very polite, courteous of the players hitting and always on time. For the money, I’ll definitely be back. Thanks for having us!

Absolutely terrible service, had a tee time that wasn’t honored. The guy with the beard working the counter was a jerk. Would give zero stars if possible

An ok course for the area. Fairways needed cut, but the grass was not rough like. Greens were in good shape. Long, but somehow not as slow as you would think. Traps were in good shape, even being wet, played like soft sand. Very friendly staff. Lots of sand around greens, only one water hole.

This place is the most slept on course, a hidden gem. The greens are looking amazing. Other than a few that are still in repair, the whole back 9 is immaculate. Props to the groundskeepers. Also, the people in the clubhouse are always pleasant. My wife and I are having a late lunch at the clubhouse today and looking forward to trying this as well.

The building is in poor condition. The back deck was inundated with carpenter bees. The front of the building looks like repairs were started and abandoned. The food menu is limited to traditional golf course foods. We had a burger and chicken fingers. Curtis did a great job but remember he only wants cash tips. The pro shop was nice and seemed to carry the latest golf gear. The young lady at the desk was very helpful and polite. Talked with the head golf Pro (forget his name). He was courteous but was busy with a small tournament that had finished up 30 minutes ago. Understandable. We wanted…

The course was ok but the 9th hole is 3 miles away from the club house and that’s a issue because when we play 18 we like to refresh on snacks food and drinks if you play 18 holes here you better pack like your going to the beach

I went to this course today and had the WORST experience ever at a golf course. Visited Lake Forest Golf Club with high hopes of a serene day golfing amidst picturesque surroundings. However, from the moment I set foot in the parking lot, the experience rapidly went downhill. The pro shop staff seemed more interested in their phones than assisting customers. When I asked for recommendations on a specific golf club, I was met with blank stares and dismissive gestures. I thought perhaps this was a one-off encounter, but the pattern continued. Heading to the first tee, I anticipated a knowledge…

After reading the reviews the reviews I went into this round expecting the worst. However to my surprise, my girlfriend and I had an amazing experience, while she didn’t play she really enjoyed the course layout. The fairways and rough areas were prob a 4 out of 5, the green a bit slow due to trying to revive them after the horrendously hot summer we had, I’ve definitely played on a lot worse, nothing impeded my game play other than getting used to how slow the greens were. The Tee boxes are another story they were pretty rough at times but again nothing that was going affect your play, (excep…

Review by Robert Bennett...My son and I had a wonderful round at Lake Forest. Course has steadily improved over the last couple of years. Greens rolled very nicely. Fairways were in excellent condition. It was really a fun but challenging course.

Honestly if all the weeds disappeared and the greens matched those of a rtj course then this course would be fantastic. The course layout was honestly really fun and there never felt like there was any repeats. Hole 6 and 17 were my favorites. I played from the blue tees since it was only 6300 yards. My only concerns are 1. The greens have basically been taken over by small holes and weeds, however it really didn't do that much to how I putted 2. The journey from hole 6 to hole 7 consists of pulling out on a road where a small sign that marks where to turn for hole 7 is very far and very har…

This golf course is a nightmare. The greens are more akin to a sandbox than a golfing green. The fairways are so uneven, it's like trying to play on a mountain range. The bunkers? More like trenches from a war zone. The staff have the charm of a rattlesnake and the helpfulness of a brick wall. The clubhouse is a shack and the food is barely edible. The carts are falling apart and the course layout is a labyrinth. It's a wonder anyone returns to this disaster of a course. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. It's an absolute disgrace to the sport of golf.Worst four hours of my lif…
