In summary

Long Bay Golf Club is frequently praised for its challenging and well-designed Jack Nicklaus layout, with many golfers appreciating the friendly and attentive staff. The course conditions are generally regarded as good, with some noting improvements in maintenance and greens. However, there are occasional criticisms regarding slow pace of play and inconsistent course management, which can detract from the overall experience for some visitors.

I've played here many times and will be back. Everyone there treats you so well. The fairways were over seeded so there were times you didn't get the roll. The greens looked slow but they weren't. Many tee box choices too. A very nice range and practice area. Both my son and I hit the island green too

This used to be a premier course with a good layout, but it appears that they're not putting money into the course anymore. More important than that, is that the course starters and marshal do not know how to run a course. 1:30 to play 4 holes - 4 groups stacked up on a single hole the entire time. The ranger just says a 6 hour round "is what it is". To top it off, the course is in terrible shape. We played 6 rounds in 4 days and this is the worst. Rough length grass on tee boxes and in the "fairway" and the greens are rolling about a 6. Just avoid at all costs. There are 100 other courses…

Off the bat, this is a terrific golf course with a super friendly and attentive staff! I really commend these folks. Everyone from the guys that get your clubs situated at the bag drop, the pro shop staff, bar/snack staff, the starter (who was really knowledgeable about the course, conditions, etc)...everyone. Really made it a great experience. I have read some semi recent reviews about the condition of the course and I can honestly say that the folks at Long Bay have been diligent to rectify any of the issues I've read about. Kudos to them! The course was in great shape. Mr. Nicklaus is a cra…

I played Long Bay a number of years ago to start off my Myrtle Beach vacation and it was a great start to my favorite vacation destination. It's a challenging course, with a lot of sand. The course was in very good shape and it beat me up a little. Maybe playing it from 7000 yards wasn't my best decision that week, but I was feeling a bit frisky that day. I look forward to playing it again next time I'm there!

Absolutely loved the course, clubhouse, neighborhood and most of all...the staff. They hosted the Veterans Golf Classic, the entire course and community supported us vets. A true gem and a community we'd love to live in and a course we'd love to be members at. We'll always now be adding Long Bay to our golf packages when my wife and I come down to Myrtle Beach, and one I hope the Veterans Classic keeps in their rotation of courses. If the nice lady on her back porch on hole 14 is wanting to sell...my offer still stands!!!

Played this course again for first time in 30 yrs in March, that is why you see Brown rough. one of my favorite courses in Myrtle. if you don't like sand shots you will not like this course. there is strategic sand traps everywhere. Jack did a great job designing this course and it's pretty forgiving. Only negative is some greens had some bare spots but didnt effect overall game. I would definitely play again. Overall our favorite course of the 3 we played this year.

Course was laid out nicely. Some crab grass throughout the fairway and fringe. Greens were nice and play was steady. We were disappointed there were no showers even though their websites says there are. It was our last round and we had a 3 hours drive to our next destination so we choose this course for the amenities and we’re disappointed they could not accommodate us.

Really nice course. The fairways and greens were really well maintained. The rough was pretty rough with really deep grass right off the Fairway. Guess that's my bad for not being good at golf... lol It's nice to have so many little rolling hills and knolls throughout the course. The staff was exceptional, very polite, and cheerful. The chicken salad was about the best I've had at any course. We thoroughly enjoyed our day. With the primetime membership, it was only $39. You can't beat that discount. Great pace of play. Took us 4 hrs with it being CPO after tropical storm Debbie. The course w…

Beautiful course, greens were in great shape. Only complaint was there was a lot of work going on at the course and we weren't notified when making our tee time

We were the first tee time of the day. The starters were very adamant about pace of play saying that if we didn't play fast we may be asked to skip a hole because they send a morining wave off the back and wanted to keep the pace of play up. Needless to say we played our normal paced front 9 as a foursome in 2 hours and we had to wait 20 minutes to tee off on 10. 2 hours and 45 minutes on the back 9. Horrible course management. If you want to improve pace of play don't let anyone off the back within 20/30 minutes of your morning wave making the turn. Then after the round we were told to quickl…

If I could give a lower score I would, passive aggressive ranger not keeping pace of play and rude club house manager. Only nice people were the bag men and lady behind the food counter who I had to ask to check us in because the manager was nowhere to be found. Course layout was beautiful and could be a seriously nice course but lack of maintenance, slow pace of play and rude staff have embarrassed the Jack Nicklaus name. Don't waste your money, go play any other course and enjoy a non 6 hour round of golf with fantastic conditions.
