In summary

Makai Golf Club at Princeville is widely praised for its stunning ocean views, well-maintained course, and friendly staff, making it a memorable golfing destination. The course layout is challenging yet enjoyable, with many players appreciating the picturesque setting and the quality of the greens and fairways. However, some visitors feel that the high price does not align with the lack of amenities, such as a proper clubhouse, complimentary water, and the occasional slow pace of play.

Top tier course with top tier staff. Friendly greeting and check in process was a welcome bonus. This course is beautiful and so fun to play. Check it out if you have time, it’s well worth it.

I wanted to give them a five star but the club is ancient and doesn’t have a bar/Restuarant that invites you in to sit and enjoy the 19th hole. For a place this expensive and beautiful it should have a real club house. The people and staff and service was great and on par.

Was fortunate enough to play this course twice on my trip. The views are gorgeous and the course is extremely well maintained. It's definitely a tough course with many fun challenges.

Overall, beautiful course and scenery, newer rental club set, great clubhouse and tasty quick bites. I would absolutely recommend this stop when looking for golf during your stay, if price isn’t a concern. I must say however, it was $279 for 9 holes, rental clubs and 1 logo ball… $9 for a 12oz canned beer… At that price point you do notice little flaws and exaggerate them, several ground under repair areas that weren’t growing in well, greens rolled unusually slow for this caliber course and some off-fairway areas were not maintained well.

Played Makai 10/30/23. The golf course was in beautiful shape. The fairways and greens were fantastic, however the greens speed were incredibly slow. Just a couple things. 1. They charge you to park. 20 dollars which is not included in green fees. So be prepared for that. 2. The course provides absolutely no amenities. They do not even give you water which is weird for a 300 dollar course in Hawaii that gets pretty hot and muggy and most people travel. (Make sure you bring a water bottle) 3. We received no warm greeting when arriving. 4. The course is not worth 300 dollar price tag. 5. The pac…

Took the sunset golf cart tour for the third time and it was awesome again. Saw lots of Nene, a Canadian Goose that apparently got blown off course, several albatross including some juveniles. Carts and course are well maintained. Planning to check out the disc golf course too.

This course is absolutely gorgeous! The Par 3 #3 downhill at the ocean. Playing over the Queen's Baths. Ocean everywhere! The course is for everyone. On top of all of that, the staff is fantastic, they take care of you nonstop and make sure you enjoy your experience. If you're staying near Hanalei or really anywhere on the island it is worth the visit. I can't wait to play it for the third time tomorrow! Thank you for everything!

What a beautiful and challenging course. I had so much fun playing this course...fun approach shots to the green. Bunkers, bunkers and more bunkers. The staff were all friendly and amazing. The snack bars Panini was the best sandwich I've had at a course in a long time. Oh and the carts were so comfy!! Finally... beautiful ocean views. We'll be back!!

One of the most beautiful and fun courses I've ever played! Sure, you don't get all the pampering that you may get at another course at this price point, but the views and conditions make up for every bit of that. I put this into my personal Top 5 alongside Bandon Dunes.
