In summary

Wailua Golf Course is praised for its well-maintained conditions, scenic ocean views, and challenging layout, especially the back nine and the signature 17th hole. The staff is generally regarded as friendly, although some visitors have experienced rudeness from specific personnel. While the course offers good value and amenities like a driving range and practice greens, it lacks food services and has been criticized for a strict pace of play policy and limited pro shop offerings.

Unbelievable experience. Check-in/Amenities: The locals were extremely kind to us in the pro shop. When you check in, the pro shop is literally just a shop, not where you check in, but you do get range balls there. In order to check in for your tee time go to the little booth next to the pro shop and talk to the man through the window. There is a very large practice green and a decent sized chipping green. Range was off Mats and you hit directly into the ocean, which I would assume would be straight into the wind majority of the time. Nothing special. Course: The course was developed in s…

Beautiful golf course. Hard to call it a Municipal Golf Course. Very well maintained. And, the view at all of the holes, particularly #17 WOW! what a view. Staff very friendly & personable from the check in to the starter. Sad there wasn't any food or drinks available, but I read another review & it sounds like the food service needs help! Only negative was the attitude of the pro shop pro. Rude upon arrival, even when we went the day prior to check out the rental clubs to make sure they had a set for me. He asked question after question regarding our golfing, and how often we golf, our handic…

Very nice golf course. Unfortunately the staff could NOT be any more rude. If you're in the service industry, maybe you shouldn't treat the customers that pay very handsomely for your services like total idiots. Both on the phone and in person, at the shop and at registration, I have never been treated so rudely. If it wasn't our last day on the island, I WOULD have walked out and taken my business elsewhere. Clearly they wouldn't have cared. Truly sad how one can hate their job and tourists so much, and yet that's their daily job. A great round of golf almost made up for their nonsense.

The course is beautiful for a municipal course. However, the atmosphere here is horribly malignant. For a muni, they asked me when I scheduled if I was a beginner and then when I got there they asked for the handicap of all the golfers playing. There were signs everywhere about pace of play and being banned from coming back there. We were relatively slow (about 10 minutes behind pace of play) and when we finished the range marshal asked me if there was anyone slowing us down. I said no and that we were the slow ones. He proceeded to tell me that they have tee times every 6 minutes, and that mo…

This is a municipal golf course that doesn't look or feel like a municipal corse. This is an awesome golf course that everyone visiting Kauai should play. The whole course is well maintained and beautiful. Several holes are along the beach and offer scenic views. The tee boxes are very nice here, not bare dirt or sand, lots of grass.thwy keep the tee box grass is cut and not left long or crazy. The fairways are really nice throughout the course. No bare dirt patches, just nice grass. There are not that many fairway bunkers, but I did find one on the 18th. The rough can be difficult. It does…

Great value. Nice greens. Well kept. For the value, I would choose this over any high-priced course. Super nice staff. They have very decent rental clubs. If you're not a golf snob, this is the spot.

Wailua Golf Course is great 18 hole golf course next to ocean. If you play the twilight hours, you can only play 9 holes. Course has long 3 and 4 pars. We rented clubs and golf cart. The price is reasonable for Hawaii as it is a country golf course. Would come back to play golf again here when visiting Kauai.

Couldn't believe it was a municipal course. It was in great shape and the 17th hole was right on th ocean.

I mean, if your golf carts are still running on gas, come on. For what they charge for the round they can/should upgrade to better carts. Plus, my sandwich has cockroaches feasting on them before I got to the third hole. Yuck. But then, the course was spectacular. With views of the ocean, wide fairways and tidy greens. The staff at checkin and the pro shop was super friendly. It got hot in the afternoon but if you stay i the shade you can have a very memorable round.

The golf course is well maintained. It is not marshaled so when you see or 5 or six players in front of you good luck. The cart paths are a joke and there is very little signage for some reason. The starter let 2 players in golf carts play then let 3 walkers go instead of pairing the 2 of us with the other golf carts. There are at least 4 views of the ocean so that's nice. But this course reminds me of a few military courses I've played so there is a very little WOW factor for your $80. But it's the cheapest by far on the island.
