In summary

Mistwood Golf Club is praised for its beautiful layout, featuring 27 holes with a mix of challenging and scenic fairways, and the greens and fairways are noted to be in good condition under new management. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff and reasonable pricing. However, there are ongoing concerns about the maintenance of the bunkers and some tee boxes, which are still in need of improvement.

My golf buddy and I have not played this course for several years as it was in poor shape. The new owners have done a wonderful job bringing this course back to life. The greens are the best I have putted on in a long time. The fairways and tee boxes are also in great shape. The only thing left are the sand traps which they are working on. We had a great time and will be back very soon. Give this place a try as price wise it is the best golf deal in the area. And if you play, please fix your ball marks on the greens.

Editing to update as of 6/23 I’ve played here a few times since my initial visit, the course layout is too beautiful to not play a handful of times per year. I’m pleased to share that some of my concerns have been fixed. The greens are in MUCH better condition, no tipped over portapottys, and I think the price of play has gone down. If they can get the bunkers fixed this would be an amazing place to play, I will say I did see some bunker sand in the back parking lot when I was leaving so I’m hopeful they’ll get it fixed soon. I’ve added it to my summer rotation though and am pretty pleased wi…

Great course. A real Northern Michigan gem of a course. Came with my 14 yo son to play 18. Had a great time. Greens and fairways were in good shape. Bunkers need work, but I knew that before coming. Price was reasonable. Definitely recommend for some laid back golf.

Great course, outside of the bunkers the course was in fantastic shape. My wife and I very much enjoyed our round here. Kim in the clubhouse is great!

Updated review 9/20/24: Updated review, see below for two prior reviews over the past 4 years. The courses have continued to be improved. It's slow progress, but it's progress, and I'm happy! Greens and fairways are in great shape. Some tee boxes need help, and some have recently been re-worked and seeded. Some bunkers still need work, but local rules apply (rake and place, or if the bunker is flagged, pull ball out of bunker with no penalty). These three nines are really nice tracks, and beautiful...it's up north golf, and they are tough (narrow, hilly, with heavy rough/heather...plus a few l…

I was a little wary of playing a round here until I did so a little over a month ago. While the bunkers could still use some attention, I found no sign of diseased greens (in fact, they were in excellent shape, I thought). It a tough course with a nice mix of tight and open fairways, some punishing (but not ball-losing) rough and just the right blend of long par 3s and some longer holes. Additionally, I slept straight through my alarm and the management were very understanding when my cardmates asked to push our tee time nearly 30 minutes! In fact, the gentleman at the clubhouse was very kind…

Ok let’s not go crazy I hit Mistwood a 5 because they have done an amazing job on trying to bring this course back from the dead past owners sucked it dry new owners are doing pretty good job bunkers still need a lot of work I was fortunate to stay out of trouble the whole round. Fairways are clean and tight greens are good wish they rolled a little faster but still nice. Wish they could bring this course back to its prime with restaurateur and bar but things take time. Blue/red still best white not my favorite track. Everyone should give them a new look and play blue/red. Enjoy.

I grew up in the area and have played this course many times over the years. I now play when I am back visiting family and this year was really disappointed with the obvious lack of maintenance. The greens are in good shape, but there is zero signage at the tee boxes, and every bunker is inexplicably unmaintained and “under repair”. I understand if there is a lack of staffing, but I would expect 1) the cost to reflect that, and 2) the attendant to let us know that the course is not up to normal standards. I will not play here again until I hear that it is back to what it used to be.

I would like to leave a positive review of Mistwood, but I simply cannot. Previous posts have referenced new ownership and the desire to give them time to make improvements. These posts go back several years. I have not seen improvements. First off, I like the layout. The setting is beautiful and the holes are interesting and challenging but not penal. The staff is nice and friendly. That is the good. The bad is poor maintenance of the tee boxes, fairway bunkers, greens and greenside bunkers. The greens ran pretty slow compared to other local courses in the price range. The greens were sparse…

Played today, first time in a few years. As a local I used to play this course regularly until they stopped taking care of it. Trying to find a last minute tee time was difficult because it was a holiday weekend, so we ended up at Mistwood for the first time in probably 5 years. The course is in generally rough shape. There are large patches of greens that are burned out, the fairways are probably half clover, and about half the bunkers have the fabric showing because they don't have enough sand in them.On top of all the condition issues it is more expensive than any of the other non-resort co…
