Practice areas and both courses are well maintained. In addition to regular lessons they now offer indoor lessons via simulator from a wonderfully charismatic instructor. Rates are reasonable, clubs available to rent if needed, and the restaurant/bar in the clubhouse offers a great variety of food and refreshments. The natural beauty of this coarse is unmatched.

Booked two tee times for 6 adults and told them ahead of time we’d have 3 young kids with us (not playing). No restrictions or waivers were mentioned. When we arrived, we paid in the clubhouse, then went outside to the starter to get our cart keys. The starter booth was empty, and since he had the keys, we couldn’t even get our gear or head to the tee. After waiting about 10 minutes, we had to go back inside just to find someone. Once we finally got to the first tee, we were hit with rules and waiver requirements that had never been communicated—despite mentioning the kids both on the phone…

There are two separate 18-hole golf courses here, along with a driving range, a practice putting area, and a practice chipping area. Golf clubs and balls are available for rental and purchase. Golf carts are included in the course fee. The place is well maintained, very clean, and the staff are cordial and friendly. There is abundant wildlife (many different birds, including golden and bald eagles, cardinals, robins, bluejays, hawks, finches, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, sparrows, owls, cranes, ducks, geese, and others, plus deer, squirrels, turtles, otters/beavers in water, foxes, rabbits, butt…

My company Lux Events has hosted multiple events at this place and it is great! Working with the ladies, including Patty & Kelly at the Lounge, has been great, they are so sweet and overly accommodating to ensure a great event, highly recommend them for hosting your next event!

The course was in decent condition, but the overall experience was mixed. The pro shop staff came across as unfriendly, which detracted from the visit. On a positive note, the restaurant staff was friendly and welcoming, though the food quality was disappointing. The facility has potential, but unfortunately, the experience with staff makes it unlikely I’ll return.

I visited Newport News Golf Club recently to hit a few balls at the range. I've previously taken golf lessons here. Their instructors are great and helped me with my swing. The clubhouse is clean and well maintained as is the rest of the course. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Some of the golfers are not as friendly. Prices are very affordable. Overall this seems to be a popular course for good reason.

I cannot in good conscience recommend Newport News Golf Club at Deer Run. From the start, our experience was tainted by extremely unprofessional and frankly unacceptable behavior from staff. Not only were we stopped at our scheduled tee time and forced to have our receipts checked, but we were also accused of being undercharged and told we had to go back inside to pay more. This was after we had already chosen this course specifically because of its lower price point, as one of our players was only on their second round of golf ever. Instead of welcoming and accommodating newer players, the s…

Decided to play here today and it was the worst experience I've had. Paid to play and paid for wife to ride along. We gave the starter (Jim) our receipt and we got our cart. We then proceeded to the first tee where he stopped our group saying we couldn't have a non player even though we paid. Because of this my wife had to sit in the car even though I PAID FOR HER TO RIDE ALONG....... Worst experience just because of Jim alone... 100% do not recommend. I also never got a refund for my rider that wasn't allowed to ride because of Jim Due to the whole situation we ended up starting close to 45…

If I could I would choose no stars. Honestly. Don't get me wrong beautiful course so It look like from outside. Unfortunately we didn't get to play today because we were not permitted to play, simply because we only had 1 set of clubs. Even after willing to wait 2 hours for a tee time and ignoring their dirty looks, they did not have rentals for us to pay for. We decided that their "professionalism" was uncalled for and the behavior towards 2 beginners was unexceptable. I suggest any other course unless you see your self as uptight.

Showed up 5 minutes early to check into my tee time and stood in line for 5 minutes while desk attendant was talking to someone about a friend of theirs by the time he was ready to serve me he said I was too late and he couldn’t fit me in to my scheduled tee time. Worst golf club/course customer service I have ever had.

Great staff. Decent price. The driving range could use some maintenance on the tee area and the golf course itself could be in a little better shape but overall it's a great course for the money.

18 holes for under $40 is pretty good . The chipping area is way too small . 2 people hitting is okay, but 3 or more is a cluster . Driving range could use newer green mats and taller rubber tees to hit off of .
