In summary

Golden Horseshoe Golf Club is highly praised for its beautiful course layout, well-maintained greens, and friendly, professional staff, making it a top golfing destination in Williamsburg, Virginia. The Gold Course, in particular, is noted for its challenging design and scenic holes over water. While most experiences are positive, some visitors mention issues with food service efficiency and occasional security concerns regarding theft.

Went on a quick weekend golf trip with my buddy to Williamsburg. Originally, I skipped on us playing Golden Horseshoe since the Gold course was recently aerated and I read so-so reviews. By chance, my buddy who’s never played Golden Horseshoe talked me into playing an afternoon round. Thank goodness he did because it was an awesome experience! The Golden Horseshoe property, clubhouse, pro shop and the Golf Course was top tier. Friendly and professional staff, great food and drinks and the Gold Course was spectacular! Considering it is early spring, meaning the Bermuda grass is still dormant, a…

All I can say is wow, what an experience. From the minute we drove up Robbie greeted us at the car, super friendly, knowledgeable, and funny guy. The entire layout of everything is so well done, from the pro shop, to the practice area, to the 1st tee, the entire track is fantastic. Every hole is beautiful, especially the par 3s which are all across water. The bunkers have pristine white and fluffy sand. Can't wait to go back!

The Gold Course at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club is an amazing public course in colonial Williamsburg that is a must play. The course is among the top courses in the state of Virginia and is perennially ranked among the top 100 public courses in the nation. The conditions were amazing and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and made for a great experience. The course is tight and places a premium on accuracy and is among the more challenging layouts I’ve ever played.

We played the gold course at twilight rates. Pace of play was great - 4 hours. Course is in wonderful shape, greens run true and fairways are well kept. The par 3’s are amazing. The staff were so friendly and helpful. A must play in Williamsburg.

Golf course is special. Absolutely beautiful and top notch upkeep. The greens are fantastic, bunkers are top shelf (high grade sand), fairways perfect, and staff are excellent. A wonderfully routed layout that is very playful and playable. The par 3’s are all memorable. Highly recommended. Very special property.

Played 36 today at Golden Horseshoe. First 18 was on the Green. A Reese Jones design it’s everything you’d expect from him: fairways with strategic bunkers and moguls and uninspiring green complex’s. Second 18 was on the Gold. RTJ design, non stop dog legs and elevated greens. Gold was much more interesting than the Green, with the last 5 holes being a true test. Many may rave about the downhill par 3s over water but it was a similar shoot for every one of them so to me it wasn’t overly interesting. If you’re in the area and like either designer, it’s worth stopping by. If you aren’t famil…

Phenomenal course, easy to get taken by its beauty. Definitely not a course to get complacent on as you can very easily get into problematic situations. Fairways are immaculate, and the greens are very well taken care of; smooth and clean. It is a must play destination if one is in the area!

Golf course is impeccable. Greens are some of the best I've played. Wonderful layout. No morning food so eat first. No coffee either. Only at the 3rd hole bungalow. Good hot dog terrible coffee when you finally get to it. The course record is 67 and held by Jack Nicklaus. From the tips it's not as long on paper as it is played do to the hills. Those same hills allow the course to play quite short from the blue or white tees.

This course is soo amazing. Not a single house on the course….serious Augusta vibes. Actually having to shape drives and shots is so much fun and there are not enough courses like this. If you come here in the Spring once the trees are full it’s one of the most beautiful courses you will see. Definitely the top public course in VA. So many good holes.

The view on the patio is amazing and the light music they play really makes for an amazing lunch experience. The smoked turkey in any dish is wonderful, and the wait staff is the best!

If you have the opportunity, this is a must-play course in Virginia. For me, this was the VSGA’s ‘24 season opener, and it didn’t disappoint. I’ll definitely be back when the conditions are ideal, but despite the understandable “cart path only” conditions, the course was very playable, and in great shape. The two refreshment stations were very timely, the carts with GPS and the contours of the greens were great, and everyone from the check-in team to the on-course folks, to the pro shop were all very welcoming and proud of the wonderful course experience they’ve been a part of creating. Again,…

This is a really terrific fun course. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the course was soaking wet from - apparently - a long run of rainy weather. But even with that, the greens remain in excellent condition and the course layout and a few signature-like holes make it a must play if you're in the area. I'd love to play it when it's dry. The challenge must be even more fun. By the way, the staff were all uniformly friendly and helpful! Highly recommended. 👍👍
