What People Say

In summary

Northern Hills Golf Club is frequently praised for its well-maintained course, reasonable pricing, and friendly staff, making it a popular choice among golfers in the area. The course layout is appreciated for its challenging design and interesting features, though some players mention occasional issues with cart paths and signage, particularly for first-time visitors. While the course generally receives positive feedback, a few concerns are noted about construction around the clubhouse and occasional maintenance disruptions.

Course was in amazing shape. Great staff. Tee boxes were great. Some holes don't have cart paths to the next hole, follow the map and you're good. It's a challenging course for my scratch golf a**. Had a blast.

Pleasant, not super busy golf course in NW Rochester. I didn't even know there was a course here prior to this round. The fairways and greens were well kept and the prices were very reasonable - $12 for my kid and $22 for me.

Well priced and well kept with good greens. No problems with this course at all - just prefer a course like Eastwood out of personal preference because of the style and aesthetics of the course. However, I prefer hitting out of the grass at this course as compared to Eastwood. Not quite as coarse. UPDATED TO 5 STARS: this has become my go to courses in Rochester. Other than some occasional puddles on the 1st, 2nd, and 6th holes - the course is arguably the most well maintained in the area. I really enjoy the front 9. Only complaint is having to walk around the new clubhouse construction and h…

I play here all the time; for a muni course, it's very well kept. The price is reasonable, the pace of play is brisk and the pro-shop staff is always professional and friendly. The tree positions relative to the tee boxes make playing from different tees a genuinely different experience! Fun design elements like the large mound near the dog-leg on Hole 6 and the wall of trees lining the dogleg on Hole 14 make for interesting risk-reward scenarios. Great course.

This is a great public course. It's very well kept. My only complaint for first timers to the course is the that directions to tee boxes isn't obvious especially since some of the holes don't have cart paths.

Multiple rude and oblivious groundskeepers routinely cut directly in front of our group while we made our way through the course. One of our two golf carts developed some kind of starter failure 2/3 of the way through and was full of garbage when we started. The area around the clubhouse was very poorly marked during all the construction that was going on. All in all, we were very disappointed that an area like this that has such nice potential to be a great course has such poor management and execution. We will not be playing here again.

I had the pleasure of playing the Curtis M. Swenson Memorial Golf Benefit here. The course, clubhouse, carts, etc. were all meticulously cared for. The staff went over the top to take great care of all the golfers, assuring the event was a huge success. THANKS - Hope to return next year!!!

The course is usually in good shape even after a heavy rain. The play is fairly straight forward except for a few sharp dog legs, and creek divided fairways. Any level golfer will have a good time here.

Beautiful course. Only critique would be the mown grass in the fairways was alittle much but I'd still give it 5 stars for beauty and play!

This is a decent golf course. Nothing too fancy, but it gets the job done and is well maintained. If the weather has been wet this course will be walking only. The course doesn't drain well.

My friends and I played a round at Northern Hills and we had a great time! The prices are pretty reasonable and the course is well kept.

For a municipal course, this is a quite good one. Considering the budge constrain for up keeping, this is still a good public 18-hole course. I play a lot here, and the cost is about 25% of the two private courses.
